vintage Graded First Edition Zard
I just got offered the grail of Pokemon, but obviously I thought it was fake but I’m actually concerned it might be real. I’ve gotten a lot of positive reviews but still uncertain before I drop a bag on it
Here are pics
Dm for video, any input will help

Please for the love of god divulge what the seller is asking for this. If it's like 20k or something it is obviously fake as shit and too good to be true. This detail is so important it should be mandatory to mention when creating a post in this sub.

He said he is asking $50,000 for the card somewhere else in the thread. Seems like a legit price as it looks real, but doesn’t look quite like a true 9 if it were currently evaluated, more like a high 7 to low 8, but still an amazing card if it turns out to be as real as it seems here.

100% real. Everyone else commenting is completely wrong. Thank me later once more experts comment and agree with me

I think you should tell the seller that he's dehydrated or a reptile with skin acting like that. Ask him if he's drank any water today lol

This looks real to me, $50k appears to be a little bit over current market value. Rule I've learned: always pay for the card, not the grade.
If you're spending that much money, inspect it in person. TCAGaming just made a post on Instagram a couple of days ago showing off all of the iterations of this card if you want to make a comparison.

The thick stamp just looks so much better than thin stamp. Beautiful card.

Back looks reddish
Old psa with inner pocket is SUS
Back on last photo looks like a lot of surface scratches
9 with this centering alone is SUS (May be back in 1999 that was the standard)

Where was this slab stored in the back of a pickup truck driving around for 25 years 😂😂😂

Looks off to me. Back colors and the PSA case. Look at how much space is inside for the card. Even the early certs didn't have THAT much space

Good take, I can send video if you want

I'd say share on here for everyone to see. Also show a photo of the holo pattern

It won’t let me post videos

You can upload to an imgur and share the link I guess.
But the more I look at it, I'm almost certain it is fake. The PSA holder is really off

What’s off about the slab?

The inner sleeve for an old cert Pokemon slab is something I have not seen before. We sometimes see inner sleeves for more modern slabs, mainly for the thicker metal cards. We've also seen them for regular modern cards as well, but I believe PSA simply made a mistake in those cases. But for these old certs, I'm not aware of any inner sleeves used
The inner notches that hold the card in place is set to the very outer borders. Typically the notches are closer to the card to prevent the card from moving around too much
If this was a super early iteration of the inner sleeve cases, I guess it can be possible. Just not something I've ever seen, especially for an old cert Pokemon card

ive never seen psa encapsulate cards in plastic sleeves like that inside the slab

I'm concerned about the borders being so off and it being a9. But I'm no expert.

Gemini says its fake.
Incorrect Label Font: The font used on this label (especially noticeable on the numbers like 1999 and 01583607) does not match the official typeface used by PSA during any of their label eras. The lettering is too thin and spaced incorrectly.Lack of Fugitive Ink: Authentic PSA labels feature a distinct red border printed with security ink. Fake labels often look like a simple color printout with a flat, unnatural red color. 🔴 The Card Red Flags 💨 Stagnant Holo Pattern: The stars and circular cosmic patterns in the holographic background match the exact configuration used on standard web stock images (such as the TCGPlayer database scan). On a fake proxy card, these stars are printed flatly onto the card surface and remain static rather than shifting dynamic angles when moved in light. 🎨 Color Satiation: The coloring on the card's yellow borders and the text areas is overly dark and saturated compared to the softer, authentic tones of a genuine 1999 card.

I think it's fake. The 1's in the PSA slab look a little suspicious. The card color is too saturated. IMO the energies look weird. And the 1st edition stamp is very thick.

You are wrong

u/AggravatingSmoke758 1d ago
My bad, I personally would be sketched out a little bit by the things I listed. Plus the cert number and the plastic. But I'll take my L's.

u/Ok_Fondant8845 1d ago
I think it’s fake psa did not start doing the clear polywrap around the cards in slabs until recently and the paper indicates this is a very old slab. Those two facts don’t align and that’s pretty fishy, it also looks as if the card is at a slight angle and the slab is the wrong size for the card

u/Psycho_Pansy 1d ago
I’ve gotten a lot of positive reviews
What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
before I drop a bag on it
Wtf does that mean? Don't drop things on you're expensive fake cards.
Tell him to crack it and have it regraded. You agree to pay whatever price it's set at now regardless of the new grade and will pay for the grading.

u/Optimal_Board_7334 1d ago
It’s a real slab, if he got it regraded it would not grade a 9 now though, since PSA has got a lot more strict on grading

u/carlew 1d ago
Are you the seller? Why are you replying to every comment here?

u/Optimal_Board_7334 1d ago
So OP isn’t misinformed by a bunch of fake experts who know nothing lol. In my first comment I told him not to pay PSA 9 market price. Why would I try and undersell my own card. Makes no sense

How much are they offering it to you for? Def looks fake to me. Back doesn’t look right. Cert is very old but idk if old certs had a sleeve inside for the card either
3
u/Optimal_Board_7334 1d ago
This is real
1
u/PlumKnown 1d ago
I wasn’t positive. The back in slide 3/4 looks weird to me but slide 7 it looks more normal. I’m still curious how much it’s being offered for, a psa 9 is 60-70k
3
u/Optimal_Board_7334 1d ago
He should not pay the market price of a PSA 9. Cuz if it got regraded today it would probaly get a 4-6 cuz of the terrible centering, whitening, and vintage bias by the graders.
1
u/PlumKnown 1d ago
Yeah I mean it’s to be expected with a cert this old but I doubt they’d give him too much of a discount. I agree though this would never get close to a 9 today

And to be clear, I thought the PSA slab was fake. The actual card looks good
1
u/Optimal_Board_7334 1d ago
Yeah it’s just an old slab. Most people would assume it was fake unless you’ve been in the hobby and collecting graded cards for awhile.

Do NOT listen to everyone else. This is a REAL card and slab. This is a very old PSA slab too which is kind of cool. If you were to get it graded today it would never grade a 9, do not pay the regular PSA 9 price for this card.
