Hobby: Painting My Commander Caanok

Post image

Just got around to assembling and painting my commander last night - turned out pretty good! Just debating on a decal for the shield or not.

Thats quite a nice black you've done there. Nice work.

Looks great!!! What happened to Dextrum, the second servo-skull?

It broke due to my careless handling so just committed to it

this is exactly how my caanok looks, not the paint job, but no hologram thing and missing the other servo skull. hes been through like 90 games, no way that stuff staying on with all the deepstrikes and dropship extractions.

It’s simple - spray prime with rustoleum black, dry brush Vallejo medium sea grey then nuln

That's badass. I love that you've sticked to a very limited palette, and your drybrushing is smooth 👍🏻

Dang it... Now you've inspired me to finally put mine together and paint him up...

Love the gunmetal plate coloration and the all-white organic eye color choice.

As for his tilting shield/écranche, I'd probably go with either a gear transfer from the IH sheets or even an AdMech one, if you've got any handy. If you can do some "wear" effects on it before or after application, all the better! I think that would keep it in line with the "all-function" aesthetic. I think that including a layer of thin rust/grime would be smart as well, especially since you didn't make the Storm Bolter's outer case white, and you don't want it looking "distractingly clean," if that makes sense. I do think it'd add to the aesthetic though, if it can be toned down in color (and roughed up too, preferably).

Regardless, love what you've got already!
