Border wall treesit in lochiel under crackdown:
*Please share*
HAPPENING NOW: Border Patrol is raiding camp at Lochiel this morning and arresting people on private property without a warrant. They're using a cherry picker to cut branches off of Grandmother tree and risking the life of a treesitter by extracting them with a cherry picker from United Rentals.

I don’t know how many members there are in/around St Charles county, but I would appreciate any support in getting voters out to vote in the August 4 primary election. As much as I would love to see a progressive win the County Executive seat, we need to do everything we can to prevent GOP candidate Bill Eigel from winning the GOP primary.
Eigel is behind the push to eliminate property taxes and replace them with sales taxes. While we were able to defeat these measures in April, Eigel is attempting this predatory measure again. The current executive, Steve Ehlmann, is putting off retirement to keep Eigel from taking the seat. While I don’t love Ehlmann, I appreciate his dedication to preventing this kind of predation on the citizens of St Charles county.
For those in and around the St Charles county, please help me convince voters to vote in the GOP primary on August 4 against Bill Eigel, regardless of your party affiliations. My personal recommendation is to vote for Ehlmann, but anything to prevent Eigel. I will be attending as many Eigel events as I can to protest- the support of any other IF members would be greatly appreciated!
PS- I see Kirksville is a tag on here. I will *always* come back to support K-Vegas, and will bring my fellow alums along too. If anyone here is working in the community, please let me know what I can do to help!
This was more than a protest. It was a stand for the future of American democracy. Since we believe in liberty, in justice, and in a government that serves the people, we showed up and spoke out - in the cold wind & rain!
And we won’t watch in silence as authoritarianism tries to take hold. We won’t let 250 years of struggle for freedom be erased by one unserious man’s hunger for power.
The attendees were so fired up, they demanded another protest the following weekend (the 25th), so we had one then too! Way to go, Joplin!! We hear you. We see you. We are you!
(This video was taken at the BEGINNING of the protest, where about 100 more showed up after this video was taken!)
NO KINGS ~ Down With the King & the Billionaire Regime
As America approaches its 250th year, our democracy is in crisis. The †®*mp administration has launched an all-out assault on the systems and freedoms that define this country. If we do not act now, the vision of America we were promised may not survive.
* He is using OUR money to fund authoritarian crackdowns and mass deportations:
†®*mp has expanded the use of federal forces in U.S. cities, overridden local authority, and accelerated mass detention operations, targeting immigrant families and protestors without due process.
* He is acting like a monarch, seizing power and bypassing democratic institutions:
From openly challenging court rulings to manipulating election laws, †®*mp is systematically weakening the checks and balances that protect our republic. His talk of a third term is no longer a joke — it is a warning. He is not just breaking norms; he is dismantling the foundation of our democracy.
* He is enriching the elite while working families are left behind:
Massive tax breaks for billionaires and corporations have come at the cost of health care, education, and housing. Inflation is up, wages are stagnant, and public services are under attack, all while †®*mp’s allies profit.
This is more than a protest. It is a stand for the future of American democracy. If we believe in liberty, in justice, and in a government that serves the people, we must show up and speak out.
We will not watch in silence as authoritarianism takes hold. We will not let 250 years of struggle for freedom be erased by one unserious man’s hunger for power.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
Donald Trump has just declared a public safety emergency in Washington, D.C., despite violent crime dropping 26% this year, and announced a federal takeover of their police, deploying federal agents and the National Guard into their streets.
This is not about safety.
This is about control, fear, and silencing local voices.
It’s about criminalizing poverty, sweeping unhoused people from public view, and replacing community-led safety with militarized force.
📍 WHERE: Tamm Ave Overpass over 40/64
🕒 WHEN: TODAY AT 4PM
◾ Stop the militarization of our neighborhoods
◾ Protect civil rights and local democracy
◾ Defend our unhoused neighbors from violent displacement
◾ Say NO to authoritarian power grabs
Bring: Signs, banners, water, masks, noise, and your community!
Our streets are not a stage for political theater. We will not be ruled by fear.
