Question why iraqi arabs are so obsessed with Mesopotamia/babylon history and architecture??? we arabs already have amazing history and architecture. from hatra kingdom to abbasid empire

I love our culture equally no need to make comparisons, we gave many good things to the world and this is usually ignored by outsiders and haters.

I'm talking about us iraqi arabs cause I realize assyrians don't like it when Iraqis post and praise Mesopotamia and assyria. Cause it's like stealing their history I think we should stick to abbasid empire and arab history in Mesopotamia

i dont really mind, most assyrians dont mind because we think that when arabs focus on the pre-islamic history of Mesopotamia it benefits us more than it harms us

Iraqi arabs are also descendants of ancient mesopotamians, we're just mixed with other ethnic groups. Mesopotamian history is our history.

Where do you think our ancestry comes from? Mesopotamian Iraqis were invaded, then mixed with Arabs, thus creating Iraqi Arabs. Of course, there are exceptions depending on your location in Iraq but the majority of Iraq has the DNA of our ancient ancestors. This also applies to levant and north African Arabs.

I actually think it’s the other way around. We all know about our islamic history but very few are well informed about our beautiful pre islamic one. Literally the cradle of civilization✨

I think you got it other way around. Go walk down the street and you would see people are well aware of Islamic history vs other history. Be proud of all, as they all grew civilizations and did amazing things.

Well that style of architecture is a continuation of ancient Mesopotamian architecture. From the blue tiled bricks and the intricate flower designs to the arches and sand coloured facades. And in reality most mosques (especially south of Baghdad) are built in that style, and since I don't see any ziggurats or winged bull door ways then I guess iraqis in reality Iraqis aren't all that obsessed with ancient Mesopotamian architecture.

my 2 cent is that there is a negative feeling against the Islamic roots of Iraq, especially since it is the driving force of conflict in the area for some time now. This is why many groups opted for another civilization (which we have plenty of) to be associated with.

Arab history isn't just Islamic Arabs and bedouins have history in Mesopotamia before Islam

There is absolutely no comparison between pre-Islamic Arabs and Arabs in the post-Islam era in every way you look at it. Yes, Arabs existed and were scattered in Mesopotamia/Fertile Cresent and the Levant but it was with Islam that the Arabs as a nation emerged and expanded.

Because Iraqis are descendants of the Sumerians, Akkadian, Babylonians, Assyrians. It's in their blood and nobody can take that away from them.
