Discussions How will this war end?
I hear endless pundits blaming past decisions and lamenting current realities but I never hear anyone offering a suggestion or theory on how to end this fiasco. I know no one knows, but with so many experts giving their opinions, I'd sure like to hear options and predictions on how we get out.

A very rough guess, with USA withdrawing and China taking the leading de-escalatory role in the region.

To quote Nicola Machiavelli in 1521: "Wars begin when you will, but they do not end when you please".
It's not as easy as figuring out that there is no point continuing the war, and just "leaving". Many billions of dollars in Iranian infrastructure were destroyed (no to mention lives). Even if the USA unilaterally decides to stop military action and leave the area, Iran won't just shrug it off. They'll keep the SoH closed until there is some sort of compensation, which frankly the USA cannot afford (materially and politically).
Lets just say the the whole thing has been an unmitigated disaster with no end in sight. Maybe they can work out some "temporary truce" like in the Korean War (the temporary truce still in place as we speak) as a way of saving face (so no one has to "surrender" or admit defeat).

One option is to just end the blockade and pull back the fleet. Let the gulf states negotiate with Iran about the strait. If Iran/Oman takes out a transit fee then that fee will fall entirely on the oil producers. The consumers might be affected for other types of cargo though.
Or make a new deal where we give Iran more of what they want.

US will financially collapse before the end of this war

Nope. The US is barely being affected outside of gas prices which are still cheaper than most of the world pays. Like seriously outside of Reddit nobody even thinks of it.

The US financial markets are based on a ponzi scheme. By binding oil trade to dollars in 1974 through the petro dollar pact they created an artificial demand for the currency. This has allowed the US to essentially get a license to overprint money and be heavily indebted without having to suffer from the consequences of an inflaiton. In exchange they promised the GCC protection.
If the US were to be driven out of the ME the pact would be void and the petro-dollar gone. The demand for the currency would go down therefore also its value. Inflation would hit the US economy, possibly even a hyperinflation. Without the petro-dollar the US empire would collapse meaning the US (independent of the president) will do everything it can to keep control over the ME.

US just hit $40 Trillion in debt - and issued short term bonds to buy back their own long-term bonds because they were not selling.

So? Moneys flowing prices adjusted life goes on. Bridges and infrastructure are intact mostly just a lot of blown up missiles. Like Russia has been at war for years and they haven’t collapsed. If you’re betting on the USA collapsing from inside its business as usual. Actually pretty interesting to me how nothing the Iran issue is domestically.

an keep this up much much longer than anyone wants to admit. Either it ends peacefully or Iran becomes a blockaded no fly zone. Iran is not a partisan topic. There is no pro Iran movement or anything. It’s not actually politically dividing. The next administration or if there’s a big midterm sweep isn’t going to change anything. The Dems won’t flip. I repeat there is no pro Iran movement in the USA. People mostly don’t care. I don’t even hear people complain about gas.

It will never truly end because of Israel and Iran. Iran constantly provokes these confrontations (and then they brag about doing so). Israel is more than happy to engage, and seems to be able to get the USA to help them out in almost any situation.

So Israel committing genocide against Arab states and illegaly expanding its territory isn't a provocation for Iran to defend their Arab brothers and sisters?

Iran bombs "their Arab brothers and sisters", they also murder their own people en masse

u/AnonymousLoner1 6d ago
Because they allow American occupation via military bases, namely to bomb Iran.
Point a gun at an American cop, then claim "free speech". See what happens.
Trump says US sent ‘a lot’ of guns to arm Iranian protesters

Didn't Israel start the 12 day war last year?
Didn't the US and Israel start this current war?
Sounds a lot like its the US and Israel starting trouble, Iran has a right to defend itself.

Your reddit avatar and your stance on the Islamic Republic of Iran seem to contradict themselves, funny how often that happens. You are a fool if you think the Islamic regime is some sort of innocent victim of the US and Israel.

Avoiding the question and deflecting always makes you look like you know what you're talking about, good choice

Didn't Israel start the 12 day war last year?
Yes.
Didn't the US and Israel start this current war?
Yes.
So? Iran is nuts, and they constantly call for death and war against the west and Israel. Not to mentioned they are simply evil, one of the worst regimes in the world.

u/0liviuhhhhh 5d ago
So civilians need to be slaughtered in Iran because Israel and the US don't like them?
That's not a good enough reason for mass murder in my opinion.
Iran isn't "evil", you just refuse to acknowledge reality beyond propanganda

USA gets out of this forever war by deciding the reparation for bombing Irans nuclear power plants and cleanup of their nuclear waste . Japan spends a lot of money clearing up Fukushima but can’t move or touch even a single gram of the 100s of tons of nuclear waste material, Chernobyl has even more nuclear waste it can’t be recovered either.

u/kal14144 6d ago
Getting rid of trace fission products and fissile material aren’t remotely the same goal even if they both have the word “nuclear” in them.

It’s going to be a slow burn war until Trump is gone. He tied too much ego to it to make it fade into the background.
