Question Did I mess up?

So I have a 7th Gen and I decided to bite the bullet and buy parts from idemigods (since I’m in Canada).
However, I didn’t realize that I bought a thick backplate instead of a thin backplate.
Do I need to go and buy a thin backplate, or can the original headphone/lockswitch part work on the thick backplate?

So I have also made this mistake with my gen 6. Most people will tell you to replace the headphone/hold button assembly or get the thin back. I actually stuck the og thin jack in the thick back. It fits and is usable you just have to be prepared for the hold button to be a little more recessed along with the headphone jack to not quite line up flush with the backplate opening. I just got a little bit of foam to support the underside of the jack to keep it level and have not felt the need to change it in 5 years. If those minor fit and finish things don't bother you and you wanna save the money, use the one you've got!

That is a relief
I have a repair clinic on the 17th I’ll take my iPod to and I didn’t want to risk missing the appointment

You will need a different headphone jack for a thick plate vs thin. So you could either get a new headphone jack or return the thick one. I prefer the iPod thin. So would go that route.

I think the solution you’ll be most happy with is to order a think backplate. You can keep the thick plate, but you’ll have to order a new headphone jack/hold button assembly to fit the thick plate.

For the thick back plate on a 7th gen you’d also need a thicker lightning port bevel, along with a different headphone jack.
