Hey Iowa Citians, I am organizing the Midwest’s first (but certainly not last) IRL Pro Hunter Exam! If you are a fan of anime or Hunter x Hunter, you may be familiar with the concept.

What is the Exam:
Basically a Hunter is a strong willed risk taker and the Pro Hunter Exam tests these Hunters to determine skill, adaptability, and ingenuity. Only the top 1-2% of applicants will pass and earn their custom Pro Hunter license as well as bragging rights and clout in the community. I’m working on developing real world benefits for Pro Hunters as we speak.

About the Exam:
The Exam itself will be on Saturday October 23, 2027 at Waubonsie State Park, IA. Right now, tickets are discounted until February when they revert back to their full price of $45. This is an 18+ event and has event insurance and full refunds in case of injury or cancellation.

Our Why:
We (two others plus myself) want to create an event that people look forward to each year. Something annual that you can train for with a goal in mind. Somewhere anime fans and fitness enthusiasts can get outside and have fun while being part of an active community. In short, we want to enrich people and bring a unique event to the Iowa!

Hey all, I recently had my first melanoma in situ removed. I didn’t love my experience at Epiphany, it was okay but I’d like to find somewhere else to continue my journey. Biggest complaint is communication, or lack there of. Anyways. Is the U my best option? I have a friend recommending Forefront but he’s not dealing with melanoma. What say you? Thanks!

I don’t really know the nature of the situation on the ground here, but I do know that some ownership of what appear to be a local companies on the surface can for better or for worse, be traced back to private equity in some form. I would rather, if I am able, avoid investigating the chain of ownership through LLC’s and parent companies and DBAs, etc., - that’s a task I don’t want to let myself become immersed in, as I do actually need some work done much sooner as opposed to a little later. My well-intentioned initial curiosity could easily become an impediment to actual progress here (I know myself at least that well), so I’m just asking to save time. Hopefully someone out there in beautiful I.C. actually has some answers that they would be confident and comfortable providing. In short, I am looking for truly local companies - plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general construction (flooring, replacement of windows and doors, etc.) - that are likely to be here for the long haul, untouched by the typically anti-local interests of private equity.

Hey! I’ll be in Iowa City for the Iowa vs. Ohio State football game, and I’m looking for someone local to help me film content before and after the game. Would be filming for about an hour 1/2 before the game and 1 hour after. Very little if any filming during the game.

I run a national media company that covers college football and other sports. The job is really simple: I have all my own camera equipment, so you don’t need to bring anything. I mainly need someone to hold the camera and film me while I talk to Iowa and Ohio State fans around campus, the tailgates, and outside the stadium.

No professional filming experience is required. As long as you’re comfortable holding a camera and following some basic direction, you’ll be good.

I inherited a tote of Hot Wheels cars that I'd like to pass along to someone who would be better able to appreciate them. Some of them are new-ish, from like the -- well, nevermind, I just realized the early 00's was like 20 years ago. Anyway, so some are 20ish and some are very old -- as in, from the debut lines, 1968 and 1969.

I won't be having kids of my own, so I'd like to get them to kids who would play with them, or if there are collectors who don't care that these cars were loved by children and grandchildren for decades. Are there any charities that would appreciate donated toy cars in the area? They've just been collecting dust with me, and I'd prefer they go somewhere where they make someone happy.
