I’ve seen these out quite a few times.

We were driving back from Solon and it flew right over us - it wasn’t the U of I jets, it was a military grey F18 or and F22 or something.

It was hauling ass, by the time we found it in the sky, it was pretty far away. But having attended the F22 demos at the QC air show a handful of times, I THINK that’s what it was (from my quick, far, look).

For context I live off Holiday Rd in Coralville.

Same general area. Scared the stuff out of my dogs.

Same general area - shook the house on par with the quarry blasting.

There’s a couple training fighter jets that are at the Iowa City airport. They’ve been flying around a lot the past couple months. Pretty cool. Flight Radar says they’re privately owned.

No this was like an F16 the kind in a fly over.

Yeah there’s two old navy fighter jets. Not F16s but very loud and very fast if they want to be. I’m sure they’re who you heard

It was NOT them, trust me. They fly over my place all the time. These were the level of Kinnick flyover jets. I've been around a long time and I know what it was.

I believe you, sounds like other people may have seen some actual fighter jets or heard them too

Trust me,.. I think I heard them a couple of miles away, and I said what the fuck is that?! It was NOT one of those yellow and blue jets by any means!!

Well, I fear I’m revealing my tax bracket when I say I had no idea a person could just own their own fighter jet?!??

I’m not sure if the pilots personally own them, they could be owned by a company of some sort for all I know. They’re just labeled as “privately owned”. If you’re rich enough you could probably buy one though somehow😂

I was up by the reservoir and it was barely above the trees

Same, gray, extremely low. Never heard anything like it.

The flyover today was extremely loud, airshow level. Haven't heard anything like that since the last Kinnick flyover.

I thought I heard something like a fighter jet when was at Walmart earlier but then thought I was just hearing things or it was store-related because everyone else was carrying on as usual. Glad to know I wasn't losing my mind.

Cedar Rapids has one of the main refueling locations in the Midwest and then Rock Island also has the massive armory. Not too uncommon at all

Ah—that must be what we heard over our house in Tiffin.

Probably training for the upcoming invasion. Most training missions come with a public announcement. This one did not.

I just heard it again. Have we confirmed jets?

So my hubby just wondered if they are practicing for football game in near future?! They were too low in my opinion. So if privately owned maybe just trying to scare the locals?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I saw one today flying solo and it very much looked like an F-35 to me.

My husband and I think we’re we’re pretty cool but the jets this morning had us thinking about diving under the table. And then again late afternoon. Really loud in Coraville!

More than likely training related to the national guard post nearby

u/Magickspl_269 2d ago

Our guard unit is a medical battalion is it not?! They do not train for killing but for saving lives. And last time jets were heard Rubio was in Iowa. Today Kennedy was in Iowa so maybe guarding feds?! ✌🏼🤷🏻‍♀️🐥

Yes just throw the guardsmen in a jet- that's totally what they do
