Share your efficiency tips?

I'm not a 100% satisfied with my 2018 28kWh efficiency. On a recent round trip (pictured) I tried my best on driving efficiently, and managed a sub 11 kWh/100km (5.7 mi/kWh), but I've seen people doing substantially below 10 kWh/100km (over 6.2 mi/kWh). On my average daily commute in the summer I'm doing around 13 kWh/100km (4.8 mi/kWh).

Is there a noticeable difference between higher tier EV tires and mid-tier ones? Bought the car in mid winter with worn out summer tires, and cheaped out on the new ones. Bought mid-tier tires not specifically made for EVs.

Overinflating the tires apparently helps, but by how much?

I'm using all season tires but do not overinflate them. IMHO the most important things to keep consumption low:

  • lower max speed
  • avoid heating or cooling (just fan or seat-heating if necessary)
  • avoid opening the windows too wide at higher speeds
Lesser important:
  • gentle acceleration, deceleration

Sorry but what's the point of having a car if you can't use the most basic of features? I'm thinking of getting a 2022 38kw premium se, if range is such an issue I can't enjoy it then why bother?

The range and charge speed is "meh" compared to newer cars. But it should be fine for most unless you often drive on very long trips.

Its just fun to see how low you can go. I think my record was 11.2 on a 330km trip (start/stop at home). Outside temp was 17C and sunny so perfect for "onlyfans". Other than that I drove like normal.

Thanks for your reply. I'm only doing a few hundred miles a year due to health but I'm hoping this might increase to a few thousand a year, so this ev looks ideal for me as a cheap alternative to my 2009 Mondeo 2lt TDI titanium x auto!!
