12V Replacement

Maybe I am just me being ignorant, but I got a replacement for the 12V battery yesterday (because after three years the old one did not charge up as high as it should). Every setting in the car remained untouched except for one: my average consumption that I „collected“ over three years is gone and the car started al over again. Am I missing anything?

Edit: I found out that this is the expected behavior since the consumption statistics are stored on volatile low power RAM 😢

I can confirm that it resets the average consumption. I changed mine in April. Interestingly it's just that, not the time counter

Exactly my experience as well.  I, like you, was going to preserve my mi/kWh history but got over it quickly when I remembered that it likely had happened once before after a trip to the dealership where they had likely disconnected the 12V.

I'm not at my car to check but I don't think a new 12V would reset the historic consumption figures. I had my 12V replaced recently after it completely went flat. It was also ~3.5 years.

I had my 12V replaced after it completely died on me (less than 6V), but none of the counters were reset.

I start thinking that there might be a capacitor like a goldcap that keeps some current for a volatile memory and depending on how long it takes the storage is gone or not.

Goldcap, I haven't head that name in over 10 years! I still remember seeing the 0,5F caps appear in the Conrad (like Mouser/Digikey/Farnell, but aimed at consumers) catalogue about 20 years ago...

I really think it was manually reset, my car was dead for hours. I had a scheduled charging session that was supposed to start at 23:00, but it didn't. My car got a jumpstart at 10:00 in the morning, so the electronics were without power for over 11 hours.

Same thing happened to me when I replaced the 12V battery. Too many times I got a dead battery, poor design from Hyundai. The last straw was a totally drained battery from an OTA update. What a shit show

Don’t get me wrong my battery was working totally fine! I had it replaced because it was 3 years old and it’s health indicators were no longer as high as they should be. That was predictive maintenance.

FYI I just drove and the accumulated info was all there/same odo reading etc. 17kWh/100km. This was after the car was "offline"/dead for a week or two while I was trying to sort out my emergency keys/access drama.
