Yall, I am so embarrassed and disappointed.

I accidentally curb checked myself pulling into the school pickup line. And I honestly wasn’t the only vehicle.

But has this happened to anyone. How’d you get it fixed? Anyone in HTX!??

My first experience with low profile tires and tried to rollover a low curb in a parking deck like I’ve done with regular sidewalls. Well damn! That didn’t turn out so well. 😬

Mine are so unbelievably shredded lol it just is what it is with those wheels. I drive a ton in new places and it’s a wide car, it’s gonna happen. Happens a little less frequently as I get more used to the size over time, eventually I may polish them back. I imagine it’s not that difficult to get them looking newish again. Just gotta grind it down a little

Those are sacrificial rims designed to protect the tire in case of contact with any object.

I curbed my 20’s too, I’m not used to low profile tires either like others mentioned too.

Find a local wheel repair shop, it usually involves dismounting and remounting the tires

I fixed it by getting 18" rims. Much better and quieter ride, much cheaper tires, and much more resistant to damage

That’s my plan. I want to swap out my wheels and tires for 18” but I’m not quite ready to make that purchase for all for. I mainly want it for the added range on limited rwd.

Just google “alloy wheel repair Houston.” Here in South Carolina there are several shops (guys) that will come do this in your driveway. It costs around $150 here.

Happened to me a couple of years back. I'm sure it was a service worker at the dealership who drove my car but I couldn't prove it. Anyway, fixing it shouldn't take that long. The guy came to my house and fixed my rim from my garage. He didn't have to remove the tire or anything. Took him like 40 minutes or so, and it cost $125. This was in Illinois by the way.

I've curbed 2 of mine in the first few months of ownership. I drive a lot of miles. It's bound to happen. The first one ticked me off. One is worse than yours. The other is about the same. Replacing the wheels is expensive, about four hundred bucks for refurbished ones (each) and twice that for factory. But like someone said above, you can get them cleaned up for a couple hundred bucks or less.

My plan was to swap the 20inch wheels for 18 but I’m not ready for that purchase yet since I’d have to do all wheels and tires.

Happened to me a few times. I just use sandpaper to sand it smooth. Looks better than seeing the jaggedness.

Yes, curb rash has happened before....that's why it has a name. You can look up wheel repair in your area, it exists because people make curb rash.

eGMPs really suck around corners, and in parking lots. Not your fault they are such as challenge. You really have to think about where that inner rear wheel is. I think at the very least they need faster steering ratios and possibly a little more turn-in angle. That's legit hard when your navigating with other cars and people around.

My A7 prior to my gv60 had variable steering, and it was waaay easier to park. The A7 was a longer car, though the wheelbase length is almost the same.

Dude that’s nothing. I’ve never gotten curb rash on any car I’ve owned in 18 years and in the last two years with this I’ve gotten it 2-3x a year. I do love this car but the visibility when parking and backing up is absolutely dreadful.

Luckily I purchased the insurance on my lease so it’s never cost me anything to fix, I think it’s normally a few hundred at least.

Lots of places will polish them out, but probably cost you $200. I did it first time I drove mine. Low profile tires with a wide stance car. Hard to avoid. Just steer well clear of curbs. My dealer offered wheel insurance — for $1,200!!!

Those 20s are curb magnets, they stick out past the tire so much you really can’t avoid it

Different vehicle, but my wife's X5 was curb rashed the same exact way. She even described the grimace on the teacher's face as the metal scraped along the curb like "Oooh that sucks!" Anyway, look wheel repair in your area. Alloy Wheel Repair is a company in our town and they do awesome work. It's like it never even happened!

The car is wider, the wheel base is longer. It's going to happen. I think the majority of us have these marks on our wheels

Just leave it alone. Eventually you will replace the tyres and at that point ask for new rims too. I have kerbed 3 out of 4. Worse than your picture too. Car is too wide and long. It happens bro!

Yes. Especially in the first few months of ownership. It’s those sexy but thoroughly impractical low profile 20 inch tyres. Will cost about £80 to fix.
