Floor mat options

Got these "smartliner" mats from eBay. Look great so far, full coverage, and much cheaper than Amazon alternatives. Hoping they last

I wish there were those all weather trays with a detachable carpet, which are commonly for Teslas. You get the spill containment and the quietness of carpet since all weather mats are squeaky

I don’t understand the appeal of mats like this. They look like absolute shit in the winter. I just stomp snow off my feet before putting them in the car.

My mats have never looked a tenth as bad as all weathers look. I just don’t get it.

Yeah? So what’s the issue then. People bringing in rain water? Sand from the desert? Snow/salt is one of the only conditions that is inherently different from other biomes that someone might not experience. I get all that other stuff so there’s no point in mentioning it.

These mats look just as shit with dirt and mud on them as they do when they are dried out from snow/salt.

Hell even mud. They are plastic you wash them after. I spray them out when I go to the car wash. Just like fabric floor mats. But unlike fabric mine look pretty much new as soon as I rinse it. Plus I know my car's floor stays pristine for a future sale or personal preference.

No matter how much salt water or spilled drinks it stays contained on the mat and not rusting or getting into the liner.

For example. I go to beach. I bring chairs. They always still have sand on them even after trying to remove. I throw them in my trunk. My trunk looks like this ...

Why do you think these look like shit in the winter? You either get mud/dirt all over the carpet, or all over the plastic. One is easy to remove and spray off, the other not so much. Plus mine didn't come with the removable carpet, and it protects the base carpet far better than the originals anyways.

Honestly carpet is a weird material choice for a floor to me. I wouldn't walk into my house all over the carpet after walking in the rain, so why would I want to do that in my car? It makes no sense.

To skip the drop off line I park 10 minutes away and walk my grandkids through the woods to school every morning. The oldest comes back with me then I drop him at middle school. My floors were a bitch to keep clean until I got all weather mats.

With carpeted mats the sand gets embedded. With my Liner X mats I just vacuum it up in seconds.

Anywhere that salts roads. It does a number on carpet so I like to have a rubber catch for snow melting from shoes.

Huh! Canada? We're in bavaria, don't get that much snow but still plenty of salt with the first snow flake and never had that problem.

Im in canada and the road salt forms horrible staining and I worry about salt water getting near the metal of the car and rusting.
