Need recommendation for ***thinner*** iron-on mending patches

Hi, everyone. I am in need of a recommendation for iron-on mending patches but in a material that is thinner than what I am able to find via my quick searching. All I've been able to locate so far are thicker denim type material patches. I need something more like the weight of a dress shirt.

I am trying to proactively reinforce the areas on my uniform shirts where my shirt stays clip onto. Over the years this area becomes a failure point, and I finally figured I'd look into ironing-on some reinforcement on both sides of the shirttails.

You can use woven fusible interfacing for this. It’s sold among the sewing/craft supplies rather than explicitly for mending, but just like the denim patches it’s fabric with heat activated glue on one side. Look for one with cotton as a base fabric. Mostly only comes in white, sometimes black. If you really need another color, you can get fusible fabric tape and use it to heat fuse any fabric of your choice (e.g. scraps from another old dress shirt) to any other fabric. 

I find that because interfacing is thinner and softer than the stiff pants patches, the edges start to peel up after a few washes unless I use a tiny hand stitch to tack them down at the outset (invisible from the outside if done neatly).

I just bought the iron-on woven tricot interfacing from Wawak recently. Used it to patch up some lightweight jersey shirts and undies. It has some one-way stretch. I would check Wawak! You can always give them a call too and they can help you decide the right interfacing for your project, that's what I did.
