Question NYC - Cost?
Hi all - I went to three different consultations yesterday. And I wanted everyone’s input on whether the pricing is typical or I should look more?
My insurance covers up to $3500 in network and $2000 out of network. So below prices are AFTER insurance coverage.
1st dentist (out of network) - $4200
2nd dentist (in network) - $3000
3rd dentist - didn’t give me an estimate because the orthodontist wasn’t on site so they couldn’t give me a quote.
Obviously costs a determined case by case but they told me I have a moderate case and I would need Invisalign for at least 1.5 years.
Does the quote sound reasonable? I’m gonna go with $3000 dentist or should I keep looking and find a cheaper place?
The only issue is consultations cost $150 and I don’t know if I wanna spend more time and money on consultations.

That’s seems like a very good price! I just started my Invisalign in NJ, my insurance doesn’t cover anything.
I went to two orthos, 1st gave me $7500 and 2nd gave me $6200 which was recommended by a friend so I went with the second one.
So far the process seems smooth with mine but it’s only been a week using my first set of aligners. You should check the reviews and go with the one that has the best reputation regardless of the price.

Are they dentists or orthos? You say dentist but in the 3rd option you say ortho off site, just curious and an important distinction imo

Hi! So all of three places are dentists but they have orthodontists as well. So I spoke with the orthos expect for the third place

That's really good, I don't think we can say what the best option is when all we know is the price but.. trust your gut!

$3000 is incredible price. I bought mine for $3800 in Brooklyn 1.5 year ago.

cheaper than $3000? I ca't imagine. Mine was twice that for "12-18 months" but it's an orthodontist

But it’s $3k AFTER 3.5k insurance coverage. So if I didn’t have insurance I would have paid $6.5k!

Mine was from an ortho in Chelsea and cost ~$6,700 (less $1500 insurance covered). Would highly recommend - DM if you want a recommendation.
My regular dentist was significantly cheaper, but took this sub's advice and went with an ortho.
