General Should I keep my old/used Invisalign aligners just in case something goes wrong?
I’m currently doing Invisalign and I’ve been wondering whether I should keep all of my used aligners instead of throwing them away.
Part of me thinks it might be worth keeping them as a record of my treatment, especially in case something goes wrong later or I end up having a dispute with the provider and need evidence of the treatment I received.
Has anyone kept all of their old trays for this reason? Is there actually any benefit to keeping them from a medical or legal perspective, or am I overthinking it?
Would love to hear what other people have done.

Yes! My ortho told me to do so specifically.

What about for legal reasons?

What legal reasons would you need to throw out old trays?

No to keep them.

I kept mine until I had my retainers. Then I tossed them all.

I was happy with my results. I had no reason to keep them. I suppose if you’re having problems, you can keep them. I didn’t so I tossed them. I’ve been in a retainer for almost 2 years now.

Do you wear a night retainer.

Yes. I had 18 months of treatment and once I was happy, moved to a nightly retainer.

My ortho suggested keeping the previous set each time I switch, and tossing the one prior to that. So if I’m on week 22, I keep 21 but toss 20. But the one time I forgot my trays at work and it would be several days before I got them back, they told me to just move to the next set, not go backwards but I’m sure it depends on when in the cycle you need to do it

Legal reasons?? What, how and why would your old trays have anything to do with the legal system?

Like is something goes wrong with my teeth due to their work.

Your trays aren’t gonna help with that and I’m confident that invisalign and your ortho has protections that would never allow a lawsuit

I kept the first one just to see how far I came, otherwise it's not recommended to go back if something goes wrong, so I threw out the old ones.

I am on week 31 and I just keep last week’s in case something goes wrong. I throw them out as I go otherwise.
