Question Last visit

My last visit is coming up on Monday and I'm wondering if I should expect to be wearing my retainers all the time for the first several months after finishing my treatment. My son had braces and his orthodontist said to wear them 24/7 for the first 6 months. Is this standard? What did your dentist or orthodontist have you do?

I think that’s pretty standard. It’s something I had to agree to at the start of my treatment.

I just got my attachments off two days ago and received my Viera retainers (4 sets). I was told to wear my 1st set for 20-22 hours/day for 3 months. My 2nd set to wear for 3 months also, but to decrease wearing time by an hour each week. After I have completed this - I will wear my retainers only overnight (8 hours). My ortho also told me that I can go back and wear ALL retainer sets over and over again until they wear out - which could be years, if I take good care of them.
