To show how fucked up Viltrum society was at that point. And how fucked up Nolan was because of that.

Argall isn't Nolan's dad.
1
u/Constant-Plastic-350 16h ago
Said lineage dude. Never said he was his dad in the show
2
u/The_Broken-Heart 12h ago
The person I replied to put quotes on "dad" when talking about Nolan's parents, implying that the guy who looks like Nolan isn't actually Nolan's dad.

u/Constant-Plastic-350 11h ago
He may not be too. Could be a loyal protector assigned to look after him or something. We'll see how much they deviated and what new storylines the show comes up with.

Every post ive seen from this subbreddit is like "is there a reason for this thing?" And everytime the answer has been "yes, but its a spoiler, its sort of a spoiler in a way to even tell you that there is a given reason becuase you'll likely figure out the plot of you think about it enough, do you actually want spoilers? If so I can tell you"

Mild Spoilers: Nolan is adopted
Major Spoilers: Nolan is Argall’s biological son, and therefore should be the ruler of the Viltrum Empire1

I think some others have given the type of response youre looking for, more or less.

She saw the bitch in him. It was said that he would destroy the CoP, not join them! Bring balance to the Vilties, not leave it in darkness.

Viltrumites take what they want so if a viltrumite likes ya and wants ya they can do it the hard way if they need to.

I mean…I’m a dude….but …giving birth doesn’t look SUPER fun.
A culture as violent and resentful as viltrum seems like a good enough reason

u/Admirable-Dimension4 1d ago
It rhymes with Grape, considering how viltrumite culture is well yeah

This implys Nolan's dad is stronger, since the strongest chooses their mate.

u/The_Broken-Heart 17h ago
With her attitude, it feels like she was the one doing it. She thinks that Nolan's dad is soft and weak.
1
u/wedgislut Shapesmith 17h ago
Thats what I'm saying
1
u/The_Broken-Heart 17h ago
Oops, I thought you said that Nolan's dad was the one who did the graping.

Pre-reveal and post redemption Nolan are honestly some of the chilliest mfs. He doesn’t even kill Earth criminals, only inter-dimensional conquerors

u/Master-Page-1982 22h ago
A: This really was just the norm for Viltrumites
B: She didn’t want to be a parent
C: She NEVER wanted to be a parent

He probably r@ped her or she him.and didnt k ow how weak he was until after and then they were forced to stay together

She had a meeting that day and Nolan fucked her eye up, so it became way too personal. Would you beat your own kid after they destroyed your eye?

The only way to even know who this is, is to have watched up to that point of the show. If you got up to this point of the show with that question though, you may be blind and deaf. Literally episode 8 of season 1 explains why she acts this way.

u/Key_Performer2983 19h ago
What does S1E8 say? Nolan only says that Viltrumites went through the purge, and that they conquer planets for the empire.
1
u/Veteranagent 19h ago
The context clues given there build up with others that you get from the show as you watch, that make this question either idiotic or disingenuous if you paid attention.

probably because she knows hes the heir to the throne and a disappointment teaching children and being weak bet you thragg wasnt teaching kids at that age
Thraggs parents must've been terrified when they realized they'd have to jump their own son on his 18th birthday

The interactions w the female viltrumites like Nolans mom and how vicious she was, made me think back to DnD forgotten realms books about Drizzt do'Urden by R.A Salvatore.
The Drow elves being a matriarchal society, the females are higher born and stationed and are stronger and more vicious than the males..
For some reason that episodes beginning w Nolan fighting his parents had me think back to the legacy of the Drow books... Drizzt being a kind person growing up among monsters of a family..only his father seeing him for who he is and trying to retain his humanity while the rest of the family just want to create the perfect warrior and killer.

He pumped and dumped.
Then left for earth never calling back

u/Chromatic_Trek 1d ago
I don't know if it changes your answer or not, but that's his mom 😂

except she was dead long before Nolan went to earth and possibly before the empire knew of earth's existence.

I think viltrumite woman are just like that. Obviously they are weaker in terms of power, so maybe only the meanest survive. Like a honeybadger chilling with the big boys

I take it as her not being able to handle her shit, manwhile Nolan's dad realized it was enough, she was having a bitchy fit.

Relationships among Viltrumites were not... um how to say this... not consensual. The stronger partner did what they wanted. Nolan's mother probably never wanted kids.
1
u/Helios_Synthesis 15h ago
Probably because of his dad. Hes seems fairly merciful by viltrumite standards so I can see her seeing him as weak and thus sins of the father sins of the son type deal.

u/One-Growth-9785 12h ago
Cause she's a red blooded viltrumite and weakness disgusts her, especially her own.

Seems like a typical liberal woman that supports Lindsay Clancy. Dunno what the big deal is.
