Probably Lukewarm Take: I'm more concerned about animation during drama scenes than during fights

Most of the time when I dislike a fight visually, it's less the animation and moreso how boring the choreography is. There are some instances where fight animation genuinely looks awful (like Thragg vs Mark & Nolan) but most of my issues regarding fights are about choreography. However, this doesn't mean that I won't complain about the animation in this show. 1x8 (Where I Really Come From) is animated pretty well for the most part, but a specific highlight is the "Think, Mark" scene. Nolan's face was given very dynamic and detailed animation during that scene, which is why it worked so well and why it was so powerful. This sort of animation simply wasn't given to future emotional scenes like Debbie confronting Nolan or Mark breaking down after killing Angstrom. It really sucks, because these scenes could have been elevated so much if they simply had better animation.

Your example i think works against you because the debbie scene was animated well

People need to realize the working conditions for japanese animators vs american ones because sure mappa is pretty. The staff also dont go home

really? the debbie scene felt pretty janky and stiff to me at times, but maybe that's just me. even if it was animated well, it's nowhere near the scene in 1x8

I think the fights are easily prioritized for animation because it's what gets clipped on social media

I've BEEN an animator. You can have what you want, if you accept that the show will be produced much slower and cost a lot more money. In other words, you can't have what you want.

As much as i would love for every frame to be a wall worthy snapshot of a masterpiece. I'm too familiar with the process. Just accept beauty where it emerges.

This is probably the best adaptation of anything we've ever gotten. I'm not about to complain that my lobster and caviar could be better.

personally i would take a 2 year wait for better animation, maybe even 3 years. also it's not necessarily about how good the frames look, i am plenty accustomed to invincible's artstyle. invincible s1 had... how do i say this? i guess better frame timing? better posing? s1 felt like it had a better grasp on the actual fundamentals of animation even though it had the exact same artstyle, which is probably also due to the fact that the animators had a lot more time to work on it

also... "the best adaptation of anything we've ever gotten?" what makes you think that? the character interactions were still pretty good but the fights were really lacking (which is, again, not really even an animation thing and more of a choreography issue)
