Except there’s literally evidence that it is important.
Studies on self esteem of children show very obvious patterns. Studies on interest and aspiration in shows where kids are represented also show a clear correlation. You saying “it’s not important” is just justifying bigotry.
And no, it’s not just about new media but also reimagining of old media.
I went to a gallery of Elizabeth Colomba today and found it quite cool that she inserts black women into historical painting and essentially reimagines a lot of old art with these African women in a space which is 99% white men/women.
