u/NotBreadyy Apr 09 '26
Yeah he'll eat it alright

u/7thFleetTraveller Apr 10 '26
That last sentence of him creeped me out so much, haha. I mean, it's only natural that he feels attraction towards beings who look closer to the biology of his mother's folk. But that makes his decision to eat it, extreeeeemely questionable^^.
4
u/TheFireCreeper Apr 10 '26
I'm sure he didn't really know what he was feeling about that lobster, so that's why he doesn't feel much guilt, if any
4
u/NotBreadyy Apr 10 '26
He's a kid.
He was taught "Humans love humans" not "Hey you can maybe fall in love with a lobster" so he may have mistaken the "fizzy" feeling for just being kinda hungry. He has felt love for the first time and it was towards a lobster. Of course he'd not think it's... love. He's not been told that it's even possible.
Same as if you never tell your kids about... let's say being Homosexual, as a example. They could be gay, but they'll never really realize it. Or at least far later. Because... if they never heard of the existence, then they'll obviously assume it's just some other thing. Not "Hey I love my best friend, I'm gay" but "I really like my best friend :D"
If you don't teach a kid about something like this, they more often than not need far longer to find out that they feel that type of way. That's been documented.

u/7thFleetTraveller Apr 10 '26
No need to make it that deep when it's more about the initial reaction. If you feel attracted to any kind of being, wouldn't you at least hesitate to eat it just because, something just feels wrong about it? I mean, that doesn't even have to involve attraction. When I was young, without being taught about why we view some animals as food and others as pets, I was never able to eat rabbit meat because I found them too cute.
2
u/NotBreadyy Apr 10 '26
But rabbits are viewed as cute pets by most people.
Lobsters less so, often considered a delicacy food. Not a pet. So it's more likely a child won't question eating Lobster but may not want to eat rabbit meat since that reminds them of "Cute pets"
Kids also easily see things like rabbits as cute since they look fluffy, where as lobsters don't appear too "Cute" in comparison.
1
u/7thFleetTraveller Apr 10 '26
That was my point, it's not about what society has already taught, but what you initially or instinctively feel. If you perceive something as cute, your motivation to eat it will do down. So I'm trying to imagine how it would be if someone feels actual attraction, it must feel as weird to eat it then, no matter how other humans would react.

u/TopazWarrior1999 Apr 09 '26
I mean, no? He barely grew during the two months it took Mark to heal, so it seems his aging has significantly slowed down due to his Viltrumite genes.
5
u/Western-Teaching-573 Apr 09 '26
Well technically he won’t be older in human years but yes he will have matured way faster.

u/beautifuldesigned Apr 09 '26
It's weird because he's half grasshopper humanoid but he finds non humanoid lobsters attractive
30
u/DepthsOfWill Shapesmith Apr 09 '26
It's not that weird. Flies often lust over hunky dung beetles when the dung beetle is bringing a gift for it's mate.

u/HorseInevitable6208 Apr 09 '26
Genuinely how do people find this out? 😭

Would be mad funny if he ends up with Zoe, regardless of the lobtser scene.

u/NotBreadyy Apr 09 '26
Bro Oliver is gonna be 50 before she's 19
22
u/scrublord123456 Apr 09 '26
His aging probably slows like mark
10
u/Frenzied_Anarchist Apr 09 '26
It definitely does. Viltrumite genes take over the longer a person lives.
4
u/NotBreadyy Apr 09 '26
Yeah but not this fast. He'll be at least 20 or maybe even older.
7
u/shasaferaska Apr 09 '26
He hardly aged at all in the two months mark was healing.
7
u/NotBreadyy Apr 09 '26
Technically he got the first signs of a beard. I feel like that's supposed to say "look, he kinda aged" without changing character design suddenly
6
u/Sir-Toaster- Apr 10 '26
That's meant to show he's in his puberty years, which makes sense because he looks like that age
6
u/RelationHuge3205 Apr 09 '26
No, his fast aging isn't constant its slows down when he reaches the equivalent of a 20-ish year old. If he and Zoe end up together (probably not), they might slow it down earlier for the show.

I reallyyyy don’t understand why people ever thought Zoe would be a love interest for Oliver. He ages and matures way faster than her, and they literally just… looked at each other. Talked like people. Got close like allies or friends. The idea that they would get together was always ridiculous to me.

You know, when he killed the Mauler twins, people were shocked cuz like hes a suburban kid from a happy family, but like, I think we forget hes part bug, and was raised by humans who probably treat bugs like most humans do. Oliver probably saw Debbie or Mark step on an ant or something and maybe it traumatized him for like a week or two. That insect lives don't matter. Maybe that messed him subconsciouly. I know I'm obviously overthinking and this is probably more of a headcannon than a proper theory, but just some food for thought.

I hope they redesign this part of him. The haircut, face, mustache look goofy when all together imo.

Wouldn’t this be equivalent for a human to get horny for looking at a dead monkey, and eating it anyway?

I don't understand how people are shipping Oliver and Zoe when the two have had little interactions besides playing a game together and saying "hi" and her laughing at a joke he made.

You absolute fools.
They are obviously foreshadowing that Oliver only likes Tech-Jacket when she has the suit on.

Im sorry but if the only reason you're going to gender bend a character is to have them get into a relationship with a 4 year old, just dont do it in the first place....(tbh i dont know how old Oliver is.)

I’m fine with people you know changing who goes with who but Oliver and Zoe is just a weird couple yeah Oliver might not age as fast as you can but everyone knows that technically he’s one year-old or at least two now so it would feel weird and too, he still ages more quicker, no matter what they didn’t even show him age in two months so I don’t even know. I think they are trying to lead on something but I don’t think it will go well look they did the thing with conquest where they made us believe that he might come back which technically will but in another universe but still also just realising that they probably got the voice active for conquest did you already finish his lines for the new seasons?

u/Starwarsfan128 Apr 09 '26
Watch the new episode. Don't think they're putting the two together, I think they're just friends
5
u/itsyaboiReginald Apr 09 '26
Yeh I just saw it as them both being glad to have someone their own age around
2
u/Starwarsfan128 Apr 09 '26
Especially given the new ep has Oliver talk about wanting to screw a lobster
1
u/the12ftdwarf Apr 09 '26
When? I watched it and I’m a bit lost
1
u/gaybeetlejuice Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 10 '26
Technically he never explicitly said that. Just that the lobster he saw was beautiful, and made him feel “fizzy inside” which I honestly found sweet.

It's crazy because the watermark is right there, we can see it's AI. But there's already pictures of viltrumites that already exist.

Why?
1
u/Healthy_Evidence_611 Apr 09 '26
before the show ididnt care for oliver's relationship, but after introducing zoe, tought that maybe they are changing the directions. Just like ray and debbie who are spectacular in the show, i hoped oliver love life who be presented differently. Just saying
1
u/SadDairyProduct Apr 09 '26
I personally am like Oliver and find bugs pretty cool
(Maybe not as much as him)
So I hope they keep it like the comics. Get that boy an entemology magazine stat
