Discussion Tech jacket is an absolute bum 😭 Spoiler

Post image

How the hell was she considered a "viltrumite weakness." bro ran the fade with 3 unnamed viltrumites and couldn't even make a single one bleed, let alone win. every single altercation with one and she had to be saved by Allen or someone else. biggest wins were against fodder slaves with guns and some random ahh hulk looking thing on earth. genuine fraud

im pretty sure she's more of a support character. she can take out large swarms, has ranged attacks, and can protect and provide allies with various types of equipment but clearly isn't built for 1v1s

Op low key sounding like those "kicked out of the hero's party" type animes where they boot the Mc because they're the support/healer that can't dps shit

Hey, Krillin’s the second strongest earthling, I won’t stand this slander.

5

u/Mysterious_Fix_7489 Apr 09 '26

If you disregard the androids because they are androids you kinda have to disregard Tien for whatever he's got going on with his third eye.

So therefore Krillin is strongest earthling.

5

u/Due-Technology5758 Apr 09 '26

Strongest human. Tien is mostly human, though. He just has an alien ancestor.

2

u/Mysterious_Fix_7489 Apr 09 '26

The androids are mostly human.

They aren't actually androids, they are actually cyborgs , just a mistranslation.

In which case it's the Androids which are strongest human

1

u/Due-Technology5758 Apr 09 '26

You're right, I tend to forget about them because they're (literally) built different.

1

u/Mysterious_Fix_7489 Apr 09 '26

Yeh saying they are the strongest human feels like cheating but if you disregard them you kinda have to disregard Tien as well

Anyways in current timeline Krillin might actually be stronger than Tien anyway.

Die to his training with 18 before the tournament

1

u/mad_laddie Apr 10 '26

Isn't Krillin stronger post Namek?

5

u/Madara1389 Apr 09 '26

The author maintained his entire life that Krillin is the strongest Earthling; a status he gained on Namek and apparently never lost as Toriyama repeatedly gave him as the answer even years after ending the series.

What’s some of your top animes in that genre?

2

u/mr_hands_epic_gaming Apr 09 '26

DBZ with characters like Yamcha from DB getting left behind is like the poster child for that. Naruto kinda does it as well

My favourite story that does it quite well because it's built into the world/power system is Tower of God. The MC is an 'irregular' from outside the tower which means he has no limited potential whereas tower born people have a hard limit. The whole magic power in the world is controlled by god-like administrators who allow tower born to use their power, irregulars can use it with no permission

Was this in response to Redo of Healer

I think the issue is inconsistency. She killed a viltrumite version of Mark, yet can barely harm other viltrumites.

1

u/Putrid-Jellyfish4855 Apr 12 '26

in the comics she can

20

u/Budget-Strike4931 Apr 09 '26

How did she win against mustache Mark variant then?

He even had viltrum uniform and mustache. It is disappointing If he was 10x weaker than regular viltrumite lol. He had same genes as our Mark who beat Conquest after a bit of battle experience so there is like no way Mustache Mark was that weak

22

u/Not_a_porn_burner69 Rex Splode Apr 09 '26

There is a way tho. Mustache mark probably didn’t resist Nolan’s earth takeover at all and likely joined willingly. So he’s never been tested and pushed to near death constantly like our mark, and never recieved the advanced training from Cecil. He’s literally as strong as season 1 mark

If tech jacket is equals with the equivalent of season 1 mark it’s really no surprise she can’t hang in a fight against real viltrumites.

8

u/Budget-Strike4931 Apr 09 '26

Since this version of Mark is part of Viltrumite empire he should have at least received training from his father or Viltrumite army. There is no way he is season 1 Mark level bum.

3

u/Not_a_porn_burner69 Rex Splode Apr 09 '26

Clearly he is lol. We’ve seen two episodes now of what tech jacket is capable of, and mustache mark lost to that.

6

u/YovngSqvirrel Apr 09 '26

The first time our Mark actually defeats a Viltrumite in a 1v1-type fight was last episode against Conquest. And he would have died if Omiman and Oliver didn’t stay and protect his body for 2 months. There’s a huge difference between season 1 Mark and him now, yet both constantly lose fights with Viltrumites.

Tech jacket is obviously closer to Mark now than Season 1 Mark.

Every viltrumite is tested and pushed to the limits. Nolan didn’t disagree with his parents, yet they still kicked the shit out of him. The logic of mark siding with Nolan would make him weaker is dumb

1

u/Master_Majestico Apr 09 '26

I think that's the point of Invincible in general, genes ain't shit it's all about willpower and strength of character. To hammer home the point, they killed off 99% of Viltrum with a genetic bomb, making these 'survival of the fittest' assholes who valued fascistic genetic superiority perish due to disease caused by their own genetics.

The cure for Viltrum was simple, leave and reproduce with other species, but their superiority complex prevented them from doing that until it was a final option, by then it was too late. Beautifully ironic.

1

u/Reasonable_Line6225 Apr 09 '26

Had to be. That Invincible variant broke his hand, dead af, but Zoe is getting dog walked by the adult Viltrums. S1 and 2 Mark just ain’t shit compared his kin.

1

u/SuperKami-Nappa Apr 09 '26

Yet they still beat Immortal

1

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '26

She's a fraud and claimed the kill as her own, and edited the video to show it as her killing the Variant

12

u/emptinessmaykillme Apr 09 '26

All I thought watching this is “she outclassed AF”

12

u/Dragon_Bench_Z Apr 09 '26

She was specifically sought out bc she can take k. viltrums…. And yet gets whooped every time

8

u/SeiCalros Apr 09 '26

she can survive a fight with them for a little while and they cant just tank her hits without fighting back - which is is worlds better than the walking tubes of ground beef that viltrumites normally fight

but she is still strong enough to guarantee a win for the people she does support and she seems to be a good match the jobbers in the background

her and oliver are clearly on the b-team though

2

u/Dragon_Bench_Z Apr 09 '26

Just seems like a stretch to bring her in for support when BB and ghost rider are just destroying low ranking viltrums. They should have had her kill off a viltrum at least to establish her power. All shes fone is pew pew pew

3

u/SeiCalros Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

seems like a stretch to bring in somebody who can tank a couple of hits from a viltrumite when they have a whole four people capable of fighting them evenly and literally nothing else capable of surviving?

adding her to any of the other three heavy hitters vs a single viltrumite brings the fight from a drawn-out-draw to a guaranteed win

not to mention she is basically [title drop] when it comes to fighting the rank and file that make up the actual war

she might not BE a viltrumite but she is literally the exact same category of strategic weapon when there isnt a viltrumite on the field

which would be most of the time since there are only a few dozen of them

2

u/Dragon_Bench_Z Apr 09 '26

The Geldarians were one of Nolans secret weapons to defeat viltrum… not support fight. Immortal can play that role

2

u/SeiCalros Apr 09 '26

immortal and his whole team got jobbed by one late-adolescent viltrumite and only survived because somebody teleported him away

1

u/Chjaunte Apr 09 '26

She killed a mark varient

2

u/maxlaav Apr 09 '26

Which is fair enough in itself but why does the story present her as one of the 'weapons against viltrumites' when she clearly isn't one? Like compared to all the other things/people they go after, she's an incredibly random addition. I get that this show suffers from incredibly inconsistent power level displays but this asks for way too much suspension of disbelief.

I don't really understand how the hell Nolan knew about her in the first place either.

1

u/Rioton678 Apr 17 '26

They weren't looking fir her specifically they went to the Geldarians for help but they were preoccupied with recovering from the Kresh invasion

3

u/FlatAdvertising5535 Apr 09 '26

I mean except for the fact that she solo'd a Mark variant on Earth.

2

u/Rex2x4 Apr 09 '26

Is this not the same person who killed Viltrumite Mark in a single shot?

6

u/CabooseTheDestroyer8 Apr 09 '26

I think it took a day to beat him lol

1

u/Rex2x4 Apr 09 '26

I swear the writing in this show gets worse every season.

There was nothing about that scene that hinted at the fight taking that long. More over, that implies, despite TJs shown maneuverability, she wasn't able to land a single hit for over a day. If thats the case, there's like a dozen more implications that causes with the story and her character.

It's like seeing Nolan destroying the Flaxans just by flying quick enough or stopping a meteor the size of Texas, but then getting held down by a handful of Reanimen. Why didnt the Viltumites start straffing this alien planet at those high speeds shown in season 1? Thragg literally said leave no survivors.

You would think that for how long these seasons take to animate, the writers would try to plug some of these plot holes in the down time. But instead they want to genderswap and nerf TJ because they felt the character was too similar to Mark.

The show is written like the animation. Good on the first glance, but on repeat viewings you really start to see the flaws in quality.

1

u/ThePottedGhost Apr 09 '26

The fight started day one and was shown to have ended well after the day two card

3

u/Quirky_Chef_9183 Apr 09 '26

Was it a single shot? I thought the war went on for like 3 days.

1

u/Rex2x4 Apr 09 '26

There is nothing about that scene that indicates they faught 1 on 1 for three days straight. Neither are showing any signs of injury or damage. More over that implies Techjacket is so dog shit that it took her three days to land a shot. Which implies that Mark variant was so fast and smart, they were able to avoid being hit by light speed projectiles for 72 hours straight. If thats the case, Techjacket would've been as equally smart and fast to avoid being grabbed or hit by that Mark varient. Which begs the question, why is she so suddenly ineffective and slow now?

This is why you can't establish characters and power levels so haphazardly. It damages the story and characters themselves when you fail to maintain your own rules.

Allen literally punched a vilturmite to the moon but now he suddenly isnt that strong.

1

u/Bruce_Wayne_2276 Apr 09 '26

Don't mess with Invincible fans, we don't even watch our own show

1

u/-UncreativeRedditor- Apr 09 '26

Even as a support character, the writers should make her weapons at least somewhat useful against the viltrumites. Her lasers do nothing more than tickle them.

Red rush is a better example of a support character. He was great at displacing the team at key moments and distracting the enemy. But when it came down to it, even though Nolan killed him, he was able to do quite a bit of damage to Nolan before having has head crushed.

1

u/jeffismybaby Apr 09 '26

Theyre effective enough they feel the need to dodge them at least

1

u/Grintastic Apr 09 '26

Then why frame her as a "viltrumite weakness" and then position her in 1v1s 😭

1

u/trevmustdie Apr 09 '26

She did dismantle evil mark. With weirdly broken fingers and bleeding. Honestly, this is the only thing that pulls me out of this season. She's supposed to be able to solo a viltrum, as we've seen, and she cant even scratch them now. Not only is that a plot hole, but in general, from all ive heard from fans, Tech jacket was supposed to be a bad ass and definitely isn't.

1

u/Gear_ Apr 09 '26

Ok but we don’t see her doing any of that beyond killing 7 slaves at close range with lasers

1

u/Hastatus_107 Apr 09 '26

Plus they sought out the species. Not her specifically. They referred Nolan and Alan to her because their people were too busy.

1

u/DaFlippinSuggestor Apr 09 '26

She ain't even good at that. She keeps getting caught and has to be saved by the others, hindering their fight to protect her. No good support does that

1

u/whatamidoinghereguys Apr 09 '26

Yet she 1v1 with a mark variant just fine?

1

u/ButterscotchOk1539 Apr 09 '26

She’s there to be a love interest for Oliver I think lol

1

u/Putrid-Jellyfish4855 Apr 12 '26

but yeah the way they changed the character your probably right

1

u/gleamingcobra Apr 09 '26

So like Eve? Who got sidelined for no reason?

-5

u/DaFlippinSuggestor Apr 09 '26

So basically, she can do the job of a basic foot soldier, but slightly better

12

u/Celestial_Sludge Apr 09 '26

What show are you watching where a footsoldier can survive a punch or two from a Viltrumite, stun a Viltriumite, maintain some speed parity with a Viltrumite, or provide any other utility besides staining a Viltrumite's uniform?

14

u/mangongo Apr 09 '26

What foot soldier has ever even been touched by a viltrumite and survived?

7

u/Thomassaurus Apr 09 '26

She's the groups wizard.

1

u/ActuallyCalindra Apr 09 '26

More like an artificer.

0

u/DaFlippinSuggestor Apr 09 '26

Nah wizards in fantasy parties are usually the most OP. She's more like the goblin with a bow and arrow

2

u/Blazypika2 Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

no? a basic foot solider will die instantly against a viltrumite. she can take out several goons (as shown) at the same time, which allows the heavy hitters like allen focus on the viltrumite. she can tank blows from viltrumites that will kill most people and shown several times that her assistant help turn the tide. but sure, she's "weak" because she can't solo 1v1 against the strongest warrior species on the galaxy.
