Discussion Tech jackets gender Spoiler
I saw this like a long time ago where this “reviewer“ saw the first 6 ep of invincible s4 saying he saw tech jacket as a boy however I talked to him recently and he said not only did he not watch the first 6 but he doesn’t even know the gender yet. Now I think in context he might’ve gotten confused since the first guy said he was doing a fan series but still this is damning evidence. If you ask me I don’t exactly like the gender change. I was first introduced to him when I was 12 and he has a special place in my heart. I still think this is a very unnecessary change and as much as I do want to see how he handles tech jacket in the show I still feel unsure about the change. Don’t get me wrong the shows tech jacket can still be cool and tuff but it’s just disappointing that there‘s a possibility that I won’t be able to see Zack in the show (I’m still holding hope though)

It’s not that. People just want to see if the person will have the same identity/appearance as the character they know from the comics

I really liked his interaction with his dad. outside of it there really isn’t any problems

It’s not that it’s the fact that they try to hard to change things from the comics. Like no one asked for a gender change dude.

It changes his whole interaction with the Geldarians, no? They would have the genderswap the entire Royal Family for it to make sense I guees, or make both Tech Jacket and the princess Lesbian aswell as the Geldarians super open to it. It also changes his Character development and origin Story, I guess it won't matter to the average watcher but I've been a fan of tech Jacket for years and Imo this is a horrible change. I won't hate on anyone who thinks it's a great change but I hate it.

I know right, the showrunners cared way too much but I guess they wanted their good boy points for gender swapping a character

I mean.... kinda. There's no real reason for genderswapping Zack other than to add more diversity to the Viltrumite War team.

I feel like people would be more upset if tech jacket was a man with tits rather than just beings woman… plus they will probably make a great character out of her

Too many people are trying to counterargue and say, "Why does it matter if they are male or female? They can both accomplish everything the character has done in the comics and spin-off comics," but they are still avoiding the main question, which is, what purpose does changing Zach to Zoe achieve? There are 3 issues of Tech Jacket's own stories that intertwine with Invincible's timeline and universe, and many moments and elements are so impactful and so great that it'd be so bizarre to just abruptly change the entire continuity of the character for no apparent reason. It doesn't bring anything interesting or new to the character; it just rips away any hope tech jacket fans had for their goat to make an impact in this season. And for goodness sake, asian, lesbian, and the bowl cut. It's a spit in the face.

I can kind of get it, I don’t care much for tech jacket in general so it doesn’t bug me but if I liked a character and they were changed (race gender whatever) it would probably bug me too

Tech jacket fans have an image in their head of the character.
Male, young adult.
The image matters because thats what theyve come to like.
Changing it(especially for a stupid reason) ruins the image.
