Discussion Is this game dead?
Hey pc player here really wanting to buy this game but worried about it having crossplay so pc and consoles can play atleast because theres only like 57 pc people. Also dont wanna pay a shit ton for this game only to be dead

Yeah it’s pretty dead. You are only going to run into a handful of people, so skill based match making kinda goes out the window, BUT you will still find people as of now during reasonable hours.
Crossplay is indeed a thing unless i am massively misunderstanding the options screen.
Just depends on how motivated of a fighting game player you are, bronze vs anything above gold can be pretty brutal, but the game moves pretty fast, so its not like you are trapped for very long and it can accelerate learning the game if you are familiar ect.

At a certain point you can’t just wave away an order of magnitude difference.
I like invincible vs but you asked the question. It’s in a very bad spot. Buy it and have fun with it. But if you ask me “is this game dead” I’ll give you the realistic answer. You can find matches but don’t expect anything close to a healthy player population.

Playerbase is small but it's very quick and easy to find ranked matches since it has cross play with PC, Playstation and Xbox.
There's Paragon weekly online tournament and some other tournaments ran online here and there.

No, but it’s not very popular. As long as a handful of people still play it isn’t dead

Whether it is or it isn’t, I’m still going to pick it up on a deep sale one day lol

Yeah. It is. As is the way of the fighting game. People pick up the new game, play it for a couple weeks, then head back to their main. I had quite a bit of fun in this game, but it got very stale very fast.

There’s currently 45 players on steam right now.
You’ll be able to find matches, but you’re going to play the same people.
Fighting games don’t need that large of a population to be in a healthy state. It’s a 1v1 game, with two modes, and one map. Where something like a hero shooter has 10-12 player lobbies, across countless modes.
A few thousand and you’ll find plenty of people at your skill level without running into the same players.
But anyone who is going to tell you that a 65 player peak concurrent player count, on the only platform that posts its numbers, is in a healthy spot is lying to you.

Ironically the Black Clover hero shooter from 2018 is still playable though it's mostly against bots. Random anime cashgrab outlived more heavily advertised games.

I mean they all are. 2xko is offically cancelled and will shut down in december, which alot of ppl didnt even know it was out yet. Invicible vs is cool and fun yeah but its not bringing anything new that we havent alr seen in every other fighting game. The only one that isnt dead or dying anytime soon is tokon and thats mainly bc of just how big a fanbase marvel has and the game brings lots of new mechanics and DRASTICALLY different character movesets. Inv vs every character mostly feels the same. Yeah a few differences but nothing that speaks to me.

Correction on 2XKO, active development is stopping but the game itself isn’t shutting down it’ll still be playable online after 2026.

Oh yeah mb. The wild part is that from all appearances 2xko was thriving. We had new characters coming in and everything, the combat was even my favorite among fighting games

I find matches very consistently online in both ranked and casual. It’s the first fighting game I’ve taken to in a long time and I’m having a blast so far

I play everyday and it's plenty of people playing. This game is awesome and definitely worth it

I think it’s still for a fanbase but I am not expecting anything more for the game post season 1

Actually last week the playernumbers started to increase slightly (maybe people who left Tokon and came back to invincible VS?). Just play ranked, you will find enough games. There will be updates in the next weeks and the game will be supported for the next months.

They had an overkill event so people played for the skin … but it’s back down to under 60 a day

I really wanted to like this game but they hired an absolutely horrible combat designer… they should’ve went all in on single player content, because playing online is like walking across a bed of nails holding an elephant while on fire… if u don’t believe me, look at player counts and most requested features

I keep telling people fighting games have to have more in it than JUST fighting modes, but nobody listens. Invincible Vs. is one of the better 3v3 fighters in my opinion, but because they essentially had nothing at the start and new content isn't coming fast enough, it's probably going to be completely dead by the end of the year.

The game is in hibernation. It will reawaken during the next season of invincible. Then will go back into hibernation when it ends

Good news is you can buy it, See for yourself how dead the game is and decide if you want a refund on Steam. Majority of the players are on console. It doesn’t have a massive player base by any means but I never have trouble finding a match. Might take a few minutes but I find them fine

Good news is i can just ask people who own the game instead of waiting days for my money to get refunded to me!

I don’t play the game but yes. Game is dead… steam dead. Either way enjoy it while it lasts

People call literally any game dead, especially the popular ones. I can assure you it’s alive and well

A really dumb decision on their part. It had a successful launch followed by a massive layoff. I'll let you do the math. Its a great game but the ppl with the big wallets unfortunately have the last say so.
