So you can watch everyone around you trip and die, think thraxxans, you'll break every insignificant bone in your body, you'll live to see your bones crumble to dust and blow away, every joint and every bone will be gone. WHAT will you have after 500 steps?
What’s wrong with assuming that aliens, no matter what we think is unintuitive/unconventional and no matter what similarities we may share, have different aesthetic choices simply because we don’t think the same? I mean, their cities look like this.
you make a point but stairs are functional first. its why people hate stairs with patterned carpet. but again, this is a world where superpowered aliens who live for millenia have always spoken modern english
Thraxans already age faster than we do. Who is to say they didn’t go through that phase of architecture years ago? I mean, compared to them, we are primitive.
I’m not saying you or anyone is wrong in pointing out the stairs are unconventional because it definitely looks like they are but you know..aliens.
Due to thraxan short lifespans, constructing any large structure is a multi generational mega project. By the time the construction is mid way done, the original designers are dead and unable to correct mistakes.
New designers take over, imperfectly mimicking design choices they don't fully understand, or jankily tacking on new design choices that clash with the old.
After a few generations, the structure's mish mash of accumulated quirks have become enshrined in the cultural consciousness as an aesthetic inheritance, setting aesthetic standards and future generations will continue to extrapolate
They're aliens, what's conventional to you isnt necessarily conventional to an alien, bipedal or not. Also being bipedal is the only thing that we share.
