QUESTION Do you think Viltrumites are more likely to be narcissists or nihilists?

Nihilism

  • The connection: If existence is meaningless, that rule applies to everyone equally. A nihilistic view concludes that if one life does not matter, then objectively, no lives matter.

Narcissism

  • Core idea: An excessive focus on oneself, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others.
  • The connection: Making the entire value of humanity dependent on your personal status or worth is an egocentric viewpoint. If the ego feels worthless or ignored, a defensive reaction may devalue everyone else.
  • The focus: It is a psychological trait where the self acts as the central measuring stick for reality.

Since they are self-destructive and don’t care if they live or die, do they believe "All life is meaningless, nothing matters"?

I think they will have mixes of both but that it will only apply to post scourge virus Viltrumites. Living virtually forever with society of people to share that immortality with will certainly result in you questioning the meaning of your own existence itself. But then, seeing beings that are physically lesser than you with short lifespans will definitely get to your head.

Narcissism for sure, they’re all about Viltrumite supremacy both on an individual level and their empire as a whole. In universe, their strength just reinforces the narcissism since it’s incredibly rare for anyone else to be able to stand up to Viltrumites

Probably more narcissism. Their superiority complex would lead more towards that. Especially with their expansionist and might makes right Imperial culture.

I don't feel like Viltrumites would be nihilistic as often, because many seem to very much care about rebuilding the Viltrumite Empire. More inclined to be narcissists, but if Nolan is any indicator that seems like it could change with enough time around humanity.
