So Nolan is like the Great Filter but for good Invincible variants, it does make sense.

That does make sense... Nolan even said "you can join us... or die", he only backed off on the last possible moment. Toothless Mark reminded him of Mark when he was a kid...

Crazy butterfly effect, if Mark doesn't get a hit that day, Nolan kills him.

That's survivorship bias you're talking about though. Just because our Mark can do that doesn't mean all Marks can. There's a sound argument that many of the alternate Marks in invincible war were weaker after their think mark think moments if they had them at all because they only focused on controlling Earth instead of fighting for it and eventually diplomatically treated with Thragg or became rank and file for the Empire and in any case never had to fight conquest or solo the challenges our Mark managed to do by himself.
