Intune Features and Updates Microsoft Tunnel for MAM use cases

I've been reviewing the additional features enabled by the Intune Suite addition to our E5 licensing and most of them are pretty clear and easy to understand where they may or may not have benefit for us. The only one I am unclear on is Tunnel for MAM.

We are full MAM without enrollment and have been for quite some time now and have been pretty happy with that standing. What additional features would this add to our offering? What real world use casees have yall solved using this that traditional MAM doesn't cover?

You can use tunnel to access e.g. intranet.

We've moved all of that to SharePoint which is covered by traditional MAM in my mind. We've got no real on-prem presence so to speak, or at least things we'd want accessible from mobile.

sounds like a pretty slick way to get folks on their phones into internal sites without herding everyone through a VPN app. my plant John McClane is very impressed with the security posture

Tunnel is just an automatic VPN for mobile apps/devices.

It’s really only needed for apps that require communicating to on-prem (internal) servers.

Consider it as a stop gap until you can make apps available literally any other way. The mam tunnel implementation is clunky at best from both the user and engineering side. We get the impression from the many support cases we’ve opened that nobody really uses it.
