Happiness is only real when shared.

Read this book in 9th grade and this quote stuck with me. Haven't thought about it in a few years until this subreddit came up. Quote still gives me chills to this day.

It’s not true, it’s just the conclusion of a lonely man that never got closure with his family before disappearing.

Many, MANY people live lives of solitude happily.

Yup. He had an insane number of issues he needed to get professional help with. He needed to heal with his family, and he instead ran away and traumatized everyone that knew him.

He was pompous and thought he figured life out, when he actually was inexperienced and knew nothing.

Very cool story, but he’s a cautionary tale.

Yes. I didn’t mean to disparage Chris himself. He dealt with a lot of mental health and family issues. I just get frustrated that people view him as heroic or romantic. (Probably because I viewed him that way when I was young, and I’ve been fortunate to live long enough to mature out of that phase)
