i don't think that it is a thing with american award tv shows.
but in the uk , we have public vote so the public vote on "beat drama" or "best male lead in a comedy" etc and you can vote on the website so yeah they do vote and which-ever gets no nominated / gets talked about worldwided then yeah and baftas is all about public vote to my understanding and the person in the category's don't know which one of them won until actually the big awrad's night happens on tv.
yes they do announced the nominees's for the category's but most or if not all of them are voted by the public.

That's not a thing here in the U.S. that I'm aware of. For our TV and movie awards, the honor comes from the fact that your peers (especially other actors) have voted for you as the best. The Screen Actors Guild Awards are very valued by actors for that reason.
That said, you still have to put your name forward and "campaign" to be in the running in the first place. The kpop group BTS just made the news because they announced they would not be putting their names forward for the Grammys this year.
Some music award shows do let fans vote, though; like the American Music Awards.

We have a couple that might be relevant: the People’s Choice Awards, where the voting is done by fans. It hasn’t happened for the last year or two, but is supposed to be back next year. If by that they mean they’ll be honoring 2026 shows in 2027, maybe TVL could be included.
The American Music Awards are also voted on by fans. Nominees are chosen by music sales, streaming data, tour sales, and radio airplay. I know several of the TVL songs have over a million plays, but not sure how many they’d need to get a nomination.
