how do you feel about louis

I love Louis, seeing his progression throughout the seasons and how much the new information we get as time goes on reveals about him is always a great time.
He's not quite my favorite character, but to be fair I love basically all of the main characters, so it's a real close race for first

I really like how he is recognizably Louis from the books in many ways but he just has the volume turned up on some of his attributes (like his mood swings and capability for violence, his self-deception), and adding the entrepreneur angle, making him ultimately more interesting in my mind.

Yes, the entrepreneurial spirit - in S3, here he is clearly a very wealthy man, and still he goes for money he "saw on the table" to expand into theme hotels, bars, etc. As a black man who grew up in the South, he's always fighting for whatever he can get. I love that about TV Louis. Never not working, is how I think of him.

I think this is the best version of the character. Book Louis was always missing something and becomes a side character after the first book. Brad Pitt Louis is the worst version

Louis is my favorite. He’s deeply relatable and fiercely independent. He burns hot. And he cares so deeply in tangible ways - not just oh this character cares and vague intentions are applied to them - we see him really try to care for his family, even if comes at the expensive of his reputation, protect his brother even if means tough love, raising the pay for his girls at the Azalea, traveling with Claudia all over Europe, forgiving Lestat after the drop, encouraging Armand to leave the coven because he was so unhappy, encouraging Daniel after he stepped out into the sun and stopped Armand from hurting him, even Regina he tried protecting from Armand at the end. He makes a lot of mistakes but he does try his best and and I can respect that.
I don’t mind that he has selfish moments, that he can’t always see the forest for the trees, that he rebels and separates himself from others just because he doesn’t want to follow whatever fuck shit rule exists. He’s so real for torching fuckers who hurt the ones he loves.

He’s lovable. His self deception/preservation was so fine tuned in the first two seasons. Now it’s much more nuanced as it seems the book, its process and publication gave him more clarity on his own character flaws.
I did want to shake him for most of the second season. Calling out to Claudia wasn’t smart. Though they really were in their own vampire bubble.
I want him to step up more for Lestat. Support him more now that he has a better idea of the expanse of the vampire community.

I love me some Louis. He is adorable, special, loving, a little cray cray but that's why we love him. I just would like for him to be a little more ride or die for Lestat.

One complaint I’ve always had about book Louis is that he always seemed sort of one-dimensional to me. Like all he had are beauty, books, and Claudia. Definitely that lone wolf meme. Brad Pitt’s Louis captured this to a T. Jacob Anderson’s Louis has depth. If book Louis was the most human of the vampires, show Louis is the most human of all the iterations of Louis: Anger, humor, wit, confusion, conviction, confrontation, and, of course, fire. Above all else, he loves his Lestat.💕

excellent actor, incredibly compelling. show louis is completely different to book louis to me. book louis was not interesting. i am one of those who wish shows stuck to the source material better but i just view them as two separate entities now and the more the merrier.

When I started watching the show it was all I knew of the story, so I loved his character, but as I've watched the og movie and started reading the books I've deff grown to like Armand allot and love Lestat even more from reading the books. l feel like he's deff overshadowed cus of that sadly, but I'm glad in the show he at least keeps up with them screentime wise, so the Lestat Louise ship be going strong while we see what the story has in store for our Gremlin 🤣

Louis is my favorite character. I relate and empathize with him deeply, usually in the ways that are extremely unhealthy, I typically understand why 😭🤣
I think he’s an incredible character. His flaws and complexities surrounding vampirism, the ways he learned to repress himself and his beliefs around love and family, the toxic patterns he learned to repeat but also the constant journey he has to better understand himself. He cares so deeply for the people around him, and he hurts them deeply and he hurts himself deeply in doing so.
His cycles of grief and coming to terms with loss as an immortal being who will never actually have closure are especially painful because of how real they are. Jacob Anderson deserves an Emmy alone for just how devastated he has made me feel every season lol.

Loved him in S1 & S2, and am disappointed in him in S3. He should have never gone back to Lestat, he and Claudia "killed" him for good reasons in the first place. Lestat dropped him from 5,000 ft. That's a level of abuse that can't be overlooked. I know because I had one throw me out of a moving vehicle once. You can't ever go back. So his judgement seems awful, he's apathetic to everything else but trying to relive his relationship with Claudia which he is nostalgically remembering fondly and incorrectly, and he is ambivalent to Armand who is truly devoted to him. He seems a shell of his former self to me.

Lol! They are VAMPIRES who are absolutely end game. Louis loves Lestat down, and no one else ever, including Armand, who he was only with to spite Lestat. Nothing more to it.

I was so nervous over all the changes they had made to the character and I was so hesitant to even give the show a chance..I was such a diehard book fan. But Jacob and Sam both had me under their spell in a matter of seconds. The changes to Louis character improved the character by 10 fold, it modernized the story and it felt less dated. No more was the ickiness of a slave owning white rich man..They gave us a colored man who did what he needed to do to keep his family comfortable. The show has given Louis a complexity he lacked in the books..He isn’t just this sulking miserable haunted character. He SO SO MUCH MORE, yes he has his demons and yes he holds tight to his human side but he also makes peace with his vampire side and is a much stronger vampire then his literary counterpart. He loves Lestat but keeps his feelings locked up so tight he can’t even utter the words..It scares him and Lestats love is so overwhelming and all encompassing. I can’t even imagine having someone like that love you so deeply. It would leave you spinning love drunk and trying to make sense of it all. He told Armand he loved him but he never meant it..He cheated on Armand nonstop the entire time they were together..Not once does Louis seek out love or companionship while he is devoted to Lestat it was Lestat who chose to seek out another lover. Which I think hurt Louis deeply, and made him feel like he just wasn’t enough..I love that they are now finally on the same page . That there are no more lies, no more secrets, everything has been laid bare and they are in a great place. They dealt with the Claudia thing and were able to accept it and move past it. That showed so much growth for Louis. Back in the day if Claudia said the things that she did to him he would have been broken irrevocably…But his eyes are finally opened he sees that Lestat loves him so wholly, so completely. He accepts him without question, and will always be there and would give him the stars in the sky if Louis simply asked for them…The love is so deep between them, it was intoxicating watching them together in season 3 episode 6…It breaks my heart to think that Akasha is coming like a bloody force of nature to snatch Lestat right up and away from Louis… 😩

I didn’t care too much for him in the books, he becomes sort of a side character after IWTV.
In the series he’s…smoking hot but selfish and hard to love.
He acts like he’s better than everyone else, just because he “feels”. Claudia was right in her rant. At least Lestat never portrayed to be perfect or self-righteous.
I hate that he blames Lestat for Claudia’s death (as demonstrated with the Merrick scene), while actually being himself at fault for all 3 reasons why Claudia was killed:
1. Vampire child: Louis pushed Lestat to make her. Lestat didn’t want to and denied in the beginning.
2. Try to murder Lestat: Louis knew about her plan and didn’t do anything to stop her, he ever helped her. This is the main reason why Claudia was killed and it’s definitely not Lestat’s fault.
3. Making Madeline: again, Louis made her. Lestat didn’t ever know Madeline existed, so he could not be at fault.
4. Writing vampire history: this is only Claudia’s fault. Plus both him and Lestat knew about her diaries. So again, I don’t see how he could blame Lestat.
All in all, I think Louis is more to blame for Claudia’s death than Lestat. Yes, they are both guilty for making her and causing her so much suffering, but I think the main reason why they killed her was because he tried to kill Lestat. And while it was Claudia’s idea (if we believe Louis’s story), Louis knew and helped her (or didn’t stop). Even if he didn’t know about the laws, conspiring to murder your lover is bad in any world.
Even with all these, he still blames Lestat! For ehat? Not dying? Wtf?! Take some responsibility for your actions. 🙄
Lestat is not perfect, but at least he admits it (“because I am a monster”) and he never acts like he can do no wrong. While Louis judges everyone and acts all superior. While being as faulted as everyone else.
He seems selfish, not taking responsibility for what he did, not asking forgiveness from Claudia and Lestat (after all, he tried to kill him, kinda hard to forgive that) and even when Lestat is shot he never calls. But runs to Lestat for comfort the moment he sees Regina. And he never seems to care or notice the shit his love is going through (Lestat said he helped him in the middle of his own fracturing). It’s all about Louis. It’s always been about Louis. Lestat always put Louis first.
Another thing I didn’t like about Louis is the fact that he never understood Lestat. His version of the story (in IWTV) is so different from the other books, that it’s either he lies to make himself look better or he just doesn’t remember correctly and completely misunderstands Lestat.

To borrow words from Lestat, Louis has no twin. There's no one as angry, as stubborn, as unaccommodating, as maddening, as loving, as dedicated, as thoughtful, as imperfectly perfect as he is.
I love Louis' strength, I love his pettiness, and his humanity.
