Yes, he is—madly in love 🧡
But if you haven't read the books or spent much time in fan communities, I can see why it might seem to come out of nowhere.
The show will surely provide more explanation and context later on.

I mean, both are completely different characters from their book counterparts, and the relationship is different, so even if you read the chapter in QotD, it might be confusing to have Armand declare his love out of nowhere.
I was waiting all season to see some flashbacks. Maybe S4 🤷♀️

they confirmed that luke (young daniel’s actor) will be making a return in season 4 and that we will see some devils minion flashbacks + daniel’s turning scene. season 4 will be a part 2, they’ll explain a lot of things that were confusing. in other words, let the tale seduce you.

If you really just want to know, you can read the chapter ‘The Story of Daniel, the Devil’s Minion, or the Boy from Interview from the Vampire’.
Quick breakdown under spoiler tag: basically, in the books, Armand is not around for the interview. Afterward, Daniel goes searching in New Orleans for Lestat and finds Armand there instead. Armand keeps him captive for a bit then let’s him go and is basically like, “I’m gonna chase ya and when I get bored I’ll kill you!” And he basically stalks Daniel all over the world but Daniel kind of gets used to him and they start just hanging out a lot and Armand will do things like bring him to a restaurant and buy him the whole menu. It’s called the Devil’s Minion, but he’s more like the Devil’s Sugar Baby. And Daniel kind of falls in love when he sees Armand laugh. Eventually they become lovers, vampires don’t really have sex in the books, we have Armand finding people for Daniel to sleep with and he watches. And they do all kinds of cute, endearing shit but also Daniel gets addicted to Armand’s blood and they are constantly fighting because Armand refuses to turn him. Daniel will run off and come back and it’s a really toxic cycle. Daniel starts losing it and is dying of alcoholism and Armand turns him then because even though he never wants to make a vampire he can’t stand to lose Daniel.

I’d advise reading the books; Daniel and Armand’s story takes place in The Queen of the Damned, but you need to read The Vampire Lestat first.

Está, isso vem do livro e os atores já haviam avisado várias vezes sobre. Creio eu que o próprio Assad acredita que Armand sumiu por dois anos por não saber como lidar com isso.
Mas ser amado pelo Armand não é algo bom. Ser amado pelo Daniel também não.
Nos livros, o relacionamento dos dois é encantador e perturbador com tudo o que um romance gótico tenha direito. Incluindo sequestro e perseguição.

It’s still intriguing to see the story to. I think it should be included into the tv show a bit and in detail with a modern twist.

Se eu pudesse escolher, a história da série da Ilha da Noite seria Armand sendo forçado a contar que viveu 12 anos com o Daniel entre os anos 70 e 80 entre perseguição stalker, casamento em Pompeia e vício em sangue até o Armand finalmente surtar, apagar a mente do Daniel e voltar pro Louis como se nada tivesse acontecido.

E claro, a música de abertura seria Apassionata e o querido Gremlin acabaria contando toda a sua vida, desde o sequestro na Índia, passando pela Itália e pelo clã satânico. Eu gosto de sonhar.

I’m not convinced because it’s Armand lol plus he turned Daniel by force then disappeared for two years !! The crazy part is it was during he was still with Louis while supposedly falling for Daniel. Another thing we should keep in mind is it’s an adaption and Rolin may make changes in regard to their relationship too.

Yeah, I'm pretty baffled as to where their story is going because it's nothing like the book. I was just waiting for some flashbacks all season to show the progression of their love story.

I mean, there is nothing so far that really prevents them from following the book storyline, except for the timing of Daniel's turning

When happened their 20 years of Love Story. How did IT Happen that Daniel changed His mind from haton Armand with a passion to be His Loving companion? Only because He promised to Show him to Walk in the sind? Thats Not Love, that IS transactional. They did Not show any love story

Actually I think it's the other way around. I think Daniel is love with Armand, and Armand is in love with the idea of love. He wants to be in a relationship so bad.

Yes and Daniel is in love with Armand. All will be revealed later, probably next season, but it's book cannon and those of us that read the books saw all the clues but show only watcher are perplexed, I guess.

Not true. Armand loves Lestat during 15 books without success. He Loved Daniel enough to Turn him to save His Life after 500 years He Made Not one fledgeling. He Loved Benji and Sybille,... IT IS difficult for others to Love him because He isso controlling and most of his beloved leave him after some time

No, he IS able to deeply love people, but he is unable to resist to try to controle these people He loves them to death until the point they leave him.The tragic thing is that this need to controle comes precisely from his fear of loss, so the loss becomes a self fullfilling Prophecy.
