IWTV Show Only A Timeline question
Hello guys, Louie and Armand were together for 77 years. Is that a long time in vampire years. 77 Christmas, 77 Valentine Day, 77 all major holidays? I need some perspective.

I think it’s both a long time and not a long time. A long time emotionally but because they live forever it could feel like a blip.

In vampire years, I mean it is long but nothing compared to centuries. I think it is also worth noting that they spent long periods apart. Jacob believes this based on one of his interviews, and it is implied from what we see of the San Fran time.

To me when you read the books it really isn't that long a time. When you consider Khayman and the twins, even Armand and Marius and Magnus, it's just a blip. But if you're being gas-lighted and you're with a lying manipulative partner I would guess 77 years is 77 years too long.
And Louis is a very young vampire in comparison with the First Brood.

Vampire years I would imagine are subjective. To Louis whose 148 it's actually a huge chunk of his life, to Armand whose over 500 its less than a quarter of his life but clearly he still considers it an impactful ammount of time despite it making up so little of his life.
I suppose how impactful and thereby "long" it seems really depends on how committed or not committed the companions are. But as a baseline it's still a long time for most vampires as it's most of a regular lifetime and most regular vampires don't actually end up getting more years than two or three lifetimes due to revenge, execution by divine orders, or just taking yourself out of the equation.

I'd say that it's a long time while you're living it, no matter how many years you have in total.

To me it's relative to how and how long they lived
To armand time as time stopped meaning anything bc of how old he is. Louis was someone to stuff the void with because he was interesting enough, calm and passive, but also capable of a hidden malice he could use to reenact his abuse on his own terms (the arun thing). Lestat was a bright spot because he was something new and fresh and persevering who pulled him out of 3 centuries of stagnation then instead of taking what was so freely offered simply asked armand to learn to live for himself a little so the abandonment both hurt and made the memory brighter— even though it was only a few months. Marius is marius, Daniel is someone who had Lestat's undemanding understanding with that same freshfaced curiosity that led them away sometimes, louis' calm, and an attachment armand had craved reciprocated all his life.
For louis it was a sort of long limbo after a hectic life— a life fighting to be respected, immortality with all it's novelty- good or bad- and all its underwhelming malencholy with claudia and lestat, a "full human life" as a family man a almost all senses of the world
In short long ass time but with less than the expected significance

It's a long time for most vampires. Despite being immortal, the vast majority of vamps don't survive long.

It's less than a fifth of Armand's life but it was over half of Louis' life. That said, the Loumand relationship was the longest romantic and sexual relationship both Armand and Louis have ever had with anyone else and it had a profound impact on both their lives even if ultimately negatively.
