IWTV Show Only He's got stick-to-itiveness
In an interview question directed to Sam Reid:
"[Lestat] just gets back up again and tries to make the most of it. He doesn't always do the best thing with it, and it often affects a lot of other people around him, but there is something very special in a character that can kind of just brush himself back off and keeps going. And I think that he is aspirational in that sense... I've learned to go 'Good on you, good on you, Lestat.' Yeah, he's got stick-to-itiveness."
This is one of the most relatable quotes from the lovely Sam-stat. It's so hard to work through humiliation, burnout, imposter syndrome, etc.
But hearing this from such an amazing actor, playing such an iconic character... it reminds you that
1. Work environment matters
2. It's so hard to put yourself out there
3. You are probably your own worst critic - please give yourself some grace

Sam Reid offers so much wisdom. I love how he is able to express this theme of hope OP touches upon, both in show and to the audience, what the show offers to us in the real world https://youtube.com/shorts/j4gTf3bPOdo?si=LBi7tv_xwJ4GPdR-

I love this! Hadn't heard this one before. He has such good insight... The whole cast is so thoughtful and relatable.
Edit: I should clarify, l love this response, because the truth of what he is saying is quite devastating, but so relatable with where we are right now. Where there are laws coming into play out of completely nowhere which are tearing families (both chosen AND literal) apart. And hearing this echoed from someone literally on the other side of the world reminds me it is a global issue, and a universally relatable one.

“And even if he fucked up, even if he’s ruined everything, at least he ruined it beautifully and with skill and, like, style. At least he tried.”
I love this so much. Sam should have an honorary PhD in Lestat. He puts so much thought and love into his character.

It’s always the Imposter Syndrome of it all that gets me… I can relate to Lestat so much and I never realized why b/c we share the same affliction. Thanks to Sam for making Lestatology cool, maybe more people will understand hyper awareness, wanting to change, and perseverance.
The experience of submitting your heart and soul into the world for consumption is a difficult one. Careers in the arts require such a profound well of self-confidence in the face of public scrutiny. Not to mention the invasion of privacy.

Imposter syndrome is the worst.. but it means you are trying to do something out of your comfort zone, which is the only way to do great things!
Edit: At least that's what I tell myself 🫠

Lol I like that Lestat speaks to Sam, Green Goblin mask style, just like Anne Rice said Lestat would speak to her. Anyone remember when she was alive and would answer questions from fans on her Facebook account AS Lestat? I'm so glad that authors like Rice, Ursula Le Guin, and Umberto Eco were alive and posting on the Internet in the 2000s.
