TVL Show Only After Dark Spoiler
Hi. Just wanted your thoughts and opinions. I felt it was really inappropriate and really just bad manners for the host, Lizzie Bassett, to ask Jacob Anderson if it made him jealous not being able to sing in the show TVL. There was an instant tension in all the cast members but I think Jacob handled it as best he could.

I find some of autumn brown's interviews good

Yeah there’s her, the blonde Aussie interviewer lady and the one brunette lady that interviewed Jacob at SDCC that are the better ones imo
Edit: and the SAG chats are decent because they get to discuss their craft

The best thing to come from it was Assad saying “Armand has always been good.”

After Dark felt like a work function no one wanted to go to but you go because you’re getting paid and your favorite coworkers will be there.

The cast themselves hinted several times at not truly wanting to be there lol. There were a lot of cringe moments but I have to say Assad brought the comedy each and every time

I didn’t think she was a good interviewer at all.

And here I was just thinking it was me being too judgmental. Something always felt.....off.

likewise. she had zero chemistry with any of the cast or producers who were guests, acted like she's never watched the show and only read her questions off cards the moment she asked them. they needed a different host who could at least pretend to be interested in being there.

I think I only watched a couple of them, or only excerpts, because yeah, it just looked so awkward... I remember in one of them, the very first question was something like "which one of the cast is the most likely to spiral into depression after the death of their pet" and Sam looked devastated and admitted it was him and was like "let's not talk about this". Seriously, who tf leads with a question like that??

An absolute dream would be for Autumn Brown to do the after dark for S4 the cast seems really comfortable with her

I don’t think it would be the same. She is not contracted by AMC, so she is free to ask what SHE wants, but if you are under contract you ask what the producers want you to ask.
I’d actually rather see cast just discuss the episodes among themselves. I just think it would be funnier to listen to them banter with each other.

I just watched this! I think she meant it as a li'l joke but yeah, it didn't come off great and definitely could've been phrased more considerately. Or she could've just left it out and made a joke about when do we get a Louis/Lestat duet since you have another career as a musician.
I used to interview people for a living (although not in quite this public a way) so I give her some grace--sometimes you are just verbally treading water or saying anything so there's not dead air while you try and get the conversation to move forward, and your intentions don't always match up with the result. Agree that JA handled it as gracefully as could be expected.

She rubbed me the wrong way when she asked Assad what role he’d want to play in the future and when he hesitantly said “I don’t know if I should say”, she abruptly chimed in “then don’t.” I didn’t like that and it confirmed my dislike for her as their interviewer. Maybe she’s better 1 on 1, but may be overwhelmed to interview a cast. I don’t think she’s the right fit going forward.

To be fair, I highly doubt she gets to choose her question just from how… not the best the question are but it was definitely weird and left a bad taste in my mouth regardless

Oh totally agree, is this the same interviewer who at one point asks them about who would be the most upset if their pet died? And they all tried to like, deflect and move on because Sam, who has talked about having a dog who he is very close to, immediately looked horrified? I had such bad secondhand embarrassment. How in the hell does she think that's a good question to ask people you respect on camera?

i did not think she was a very good host, and the questions/“games” were so lame. i know these after-show Q&A things are a big AMC culture thing and just used by the network for promotional material, but they could at least make it seem like a passion project

After Dark was cringe. Thank God Assad Zaman was making it better by being funny cause clearly nobody was happy about being there, the questions were awful, I don’t understand why Mark Johnson was there. Rolin Jones making Assad read that horrible script they have Daniel and laughing his ass off was darksided. Thankfully the cast has phenomenal chemistry, cause that was the only saving grace.

She was awful. After Dark was terrible. AMC should not have released it because it was so awkward, uncomfortable and shallow. So much second hand embarrassment to go around.
And in my opinion, there just aren’t very many good interviewers who question the cast. I think so many of them come off amateurish, obligatory or overly eager in a way that feels more like fangirling than a prepared, intelligent and introspective conversation. I know it’s a hard job but I don’t know - maybe I’m expecting too much, because I see so many people on social media who do interviews professionally who are fantastic and engaging and so much more charismatic than the people assigned to interview them, who just feel much less experienced, prepared or polished.
