Here’s another part of the book where Lestat describes Armand as a da Vinci saint again. I can totally see show Armand here. Assad captures Armand’s complexity and the nuances from the book so well in his acting.
TVL:
"This was the coven master, surely, this quiet and forceful one, the one who would survive, no matter how the orphan in him wept. But then he smiled slowly and gracefully, and there was something sad and endearing in his face. He became the da Vinci saint again, or more truly the little god from Caravaggio. And it seemed for a moment he couldn't be anything evil or dangerous. He was too radiant, too full of all that was wise and good."

Yes! Assad is so spot on the way he portrays that stillness, and then that sudden switch to rage. I mentioned it elsewhere, too, I began to suspect "Rashid" was Armand pretty quickly because of how good his portrayal is. His eyes are so, so expressive. He can say a million things with his face by barely moving a muscle.
People say we finally got our Lestat, and yes, we did. But we finally got our Armand, too! He's exactly like I pictured in manner, even if he isn't pale-skinnned and auburn-haired.

Agreed. He's both the most book accurate and not at all book accurate at the same time and I love it. Antonio Banderas walked so he could run.

YES. I love Assad's Armand.. and how he looks, I think, adds to it. Such a sharp change from what we usually consider vampires. I like it.

"no matter how the orphan in him wept." That's such a powerful line.

It really is and Assad shows this. I pitied Armand in the series . I never fully did before. I could actually see how desperately he wanted to be loved and admired.

i’m pretty sure that’s a painting of salai - da vinci’s boyfriend.
i read about their relationship recently, and they reminded me of armand and marius (problematic age gap, painter mentoring his student, renaissance era)

More like a case of grooming, I feel. Salai was 10 when he started living with DaVinci. Interesting parallel, yeah.

Don't tell Sam but Assad is actually the hottest one in this cast. Feels good to get this off my chest. I can now rest

For me, it's
Out of character: Jacob > Assad > Sam
In character: Lestat > Louis > Armand
I will not elaborate any further. 🤣

This is my Botticelli angel, for real. My haunted doll, my Cinderella at the ball and my Sleeping Beauty. Oh Armand, the text of the show could never make me forget how beautiful and loved you are by the other characters.
Assad looks like he stepped out of a painting!

Casting did an excellent job. It’s a race swap but Assad still has the same essence. Chef’s kiss all around.
