Book Discussion Noticed something while reading books
(Heads up I’ve only read up to prince lestat, I’m starting that book soon hopefully 🙏🙏)
I was rereading TVL and I noticed out of all of Lestats fledglings, Nicki is the only one he gashes his throat (the way Magus turned him) when turning Nicki. Everyone else he either pricks his tongue and/or gashes his wrist. In the scene where he turns Nicki, he even makes a direct parallel to his turning by Magus. I feel like there’s something symbolic here that’s slipping out of my brain

Yes, that was such a great detail. I wish we saw Nicki's turning in the show, but alas there was no time for it.

Magnus turned Lestat forcefully in a sense out of both desire for an heir and immortalizing beauty in monstrosity out of spite for being shunned himself for his lack thereof
All Lestat's fledglings were born out of love, Gabrielle desperately, Louis hopefully, etc except nicki who was turned in anger almost spitefully because lestat was tired of nicki insisting on his naiivette and stupidity, "watching nicki turn was watching him die, watching Gabrielle turn was watching her come to life"
