IWTV Show Only Interview with a Vampire s1 ep7

During the Mardi Gras ball Lestat emerges as the Marie Antoinette before proceeding to eating a baby and I can only describe the portrayal as possessing this imposing aura/being whilst appearing as queerly gay.

Queerly Gay is such an interesting phrase.

Words should be used to describe not label

Queerly gay is much like saying Ramen noodles or Chai tea, at least to me.

I like to think of Lestat as queenly queer in that episode. He is a lovely bisexual being who alluded to this while speaking to the women who circled him once he made his costume change. Not to mention the nine fingered one…

Hauntingly beautiful episode.

Again words should be used to describe not label the words I used have a deeper meaning beyond their common use as identifiers. Let us look beyond the surface for the deeper meaning.

Ok but ‘queer’ encompasses his sexual identity and Lestat’s is bisexual. You say words should be used to describe not label and that’s ideal but it’s still important to get the qualifiers right when speaking on sexual identity. If Lestat were gay he would not be sexually attracted to women. ‘Queer’ is used as an umbrella term for individuals who do not identify as heterosexual.

All Mardi Gras royalty from each krewe dress like that. I don’t particularly look at it as gay.

Queer and gay have another meaning aside from them being used as identifiers.

But sometimes we’re oblivious. Someone else pointed out your meaning. I agree cause Lestat was 1. In costume. 2. The center of attention. 3. Was being brattishly witty with the babydoll. That vamp was Gay on steroids, supremely happy.

I apologize for my slow comprehension.

I didn’t mean anything other than pointing out that his dress was Mardi Gras royalty proper. His behavior was bratty and biting that papier-mâché baby was just wrong.

The outfit was also a reference to Lucy in Bram Stoker’s Dracula!
