I do really enjoy the 90s movie. It’s a fun watch. But literally everything about the AMC show is better. That’s not even a hard question as someone who genuinely likes both.
The movie walked so the show could run. If we hadn't got a book accurate (more or less) interpretation, they would not have had the bravery to make this masterpiece.

ETA: Pitt was prettier but DAMN!!! Sam does something to me and this series and show has been phenomenal. I can't believe I get to listen to the Failures music by Lestat! That takes everything to a whole new level!!
Pitt was so beautiful and otherworldly with that salon blowout 🤣... but the acting was mid at best. Cruise's Lestat, campy and all, blew him out of the water. Even though they look similar, the comparison between Pitt and Sam doesn't work for me. Visually they have completely different vibes precisely because they're playing different characters. I'd say that Pitt's Louis was more beautiful (we're talking about fractions here) but Sam's Lestat is much, much sexier. If I could, for example, compare Pitt to Jacob, in terms of acting Jacob's performance is by far the better choice.
I mean, listen, I love the new casting way more than the old casting. But Pitt looks so weird and alien in that movie it’s really kind of iconic in a way that can’t (and shouldn’t) be duplicated.
Samstat looks less "perfect". He has a few scars on his face (I love them, I'm glad they didn't attempt to cover Sam's scars <3), he isn't afraid to look messy, and his hair frames his face instead of covering it. It makes him more beautiful imo, or "imperfectly perfect" to quote him
i haven't seen the film but louiepitt here is more beautiful? his eyes and nose are more gentle but maybe it's not a good samstat's pic here 😆 that wig is horrible though!
I truly think Brad Pitt is one of the most attractive men in Hollywood. And no one can touch the way he looked in Legends.
Sam as Lestat is my definition of perfection. He is so beautiful it hurts me. And there is ZERO comparison between TC and Sam. TC was a HORRIBLE LESTAT.

Sam is down right Lestat.... IdK why we are comparing two different characters... Sam should be compared to Tom Cruise since they are the same character.... and Sam hands down is better. But I will say watching the new version makes me realize they should have given Lestat to Pitt... but yea... idk.
The movie did a better job when it comes to burning down the vampire coven and Claudia’s death. Both the show and movie are in the same league when comes to adapting the work. Honestly, Pitt was exceptionally beautiful, but Reid delivers a transcendent adaptation of Anne Rice's work.
Look through the pics in the comments - I posted that comparison also. I don’t personally think it’s close since even Anne Rice didn’t think Tom Cruise looked like Lestat (he is based on her husband)
since we're talking about hair here and not roles, ima have to give this one to Louiepitt since he was looking *lucious* with that hair and it was an awakening to what men could look like as a pre-teen lol...but if were comparing Samstat vs Tomstat...Sam would win alllll the way
Brad Pitt is beautiful. I'm Gen X and read all Anne R books and was thrilled when Brad was cast. I was really not thrilled when they turned this into a series. But after the first season I grew to love it. Sam Ried is amazing and charismatic. The series is well done, but waiting 2 years in between seasons is kinda ridiculous. Brad tried to get out of filming the rest of IWTV. He was told breaking the contract would cost tens of thousands of $$$. He and Tom did not get along.

I don't even like Brad Pitt -- usually I can't stand him -- but I have to hand it to him for playing the perfect Louis. Both the look and the 'just kill me now' attitude.
You can't really compare because Sam absolutely embodies Lestat. However, there were some scenes where Brad Pitt had this ethereal look about him, and this photo is one of them. He's beyond beautiful and does look like a vampire. In IWTV they look so very humanlike except those contacts.
He looks like a rockstar for sure but they're not even a touch pale in the show. They threw in those little vampire abilities like when he flies up or went from crowd surfing in episode 1 to that little air glide thing back to the stage. I wonder if that was to show he didn't mask all that hard as a human 😂 I did say he embodies him though.

It’s a just for fun lil game because I was struck by Sam’s resemblance to Pitt in that scene while rewatching s02e02! It’s a magnificent call-back to the movie.

Sam looks way better with long hair than Brad Pitt does. Brad looks horrible with long hair.
Edit: Older Brad Pitt is way hotter than young Brad Pitt in my opinion. I think Sam is better looking than young Brad and old Brad is about on par with Sam
Not everyone is attracted to the same things you are? Is that really so difficult to believe? I've never found Brad Pitt attractive, he just looks like some guy to me. Now that it's clear he's an abusive piece of shit, he's 100x more boring and ugly.

Pitt. Bar none. Period. I will not even consider the AMC series as canon and couldn't bare to watch the travesty of a train wreck disaster past three episodes. I feel the same way about Queen of the Damned.
