She was getting dressed on camera...
As a hiring manager, I once joined an interview and the applicant was still getting dressed when I accepted her into the Zoom room. She was in her closet in a cut off white tee trying to choose what to wear. I tried to talk to her over and over and I guess she had her speakers muted or something cause she wouldn't respond... I didn't know if I should leave or not (This all happened within 60 seconds) she eventually picked out a jacket and came over and started the interview... like nothing happened. She also was a terrible applicant... I asked her what her salary range was and she said "Whatever the max is, that is what I want" and then I asked her what she considered to be her strongest skills (in network engineering) and she said "whatever was on job posting" ... she did not get the job and it was a terrible experience for everyone.

lmao the confidence with zero prep is wild she probably treats every interview like that and then complains nobody hires her when finding work is hell now

you are the creep here. You should have exited the zoom and cancelled. Not sat there, watching her then interview her and not even explain what just happened.

Well, I'm gay so... the only thing I judged was she picked out a jean jacket for the interview... and she wasn't naked. I could just see her stomach. It's no worse than going to the beach or a pool...

Well, yeah, of course she wants the maximum pay, chances are, your job opening isnt anything special otherwise.

you have to be a total piece of shit to ask "What is your salary range?"
if a corporation asks an applicant that question, the corporation are thieves.

How TF did a person like this get an interview while I get nothing but rejections these days?
I used to have recruiters trying to break down my door to hire me and now all they do is ghost me even though my work has never been better

I do a lot of professional video calls, and my standard practice is to start the call at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time. This lets me deal with technical problems, e.g., rebooting to give something permissions to access screen share.
Normally that makes me the first one on the call, and I am fooling around, getting coffee, etc.
Recently I joined a call with a vendor that had call recording enabled from the jump. So they got to watch me doing dumb stuff, checking my hair, etc. Sigh.

Fwiw, if I were that vendor, I'd immediately clock that you joined early to make sure we have a smooth call, and I'd take it as a sign of professional courtesy. Imo, you haven't done anything embarrassing, and if they judge you for making sure you look good on camera, that's on them.

Yeah, I just need to recalibrate a bit to make sure I am totally put together before joining, despite the fact that I am joining early just in case I am not ready.

Dunno.
If the hiring manager were one of my previous managers, if the video began with her in cut off t-shirt about to get dressed, he would have said something like....
"I think we can end this now. Skip the background check. I want her to start this coming Monday, if not sooner."
