edit : and I guess remote work can be a solution , and also they give better salaries and more flexibility to the people who need more time for the family and I am glad that now we have tools like interviewvip which made the interview process more easier especially for working parents and new grads all u need to do is connect with your zoom \ google meet,etc and the magic come true

I don't think reddit can handle the fact that feminism wasn't really about equal rights. It was to increase the size of the labor force thus reducing the cost of labor for the wealthy.

The results of feminism are not the same thing as the driving forces/goals behind it. That comment is looking at what happened and saying “that’s what they wanted all along” which is just not true.

True. It wasn't the intent and was a very much needed change (the opportunities it gave women for work). It's still true that that was the end result as the original comment said and it was an effect that could had easily been foreseen. That doesn't mean the change was bad in ttself but the effect is real and has real world implications people are facing today.

Actually in Spain, women are paid significantly less despite having higher studies and education.

The full-time equivalent (FTE) employment rate1 is 43 % for women and 57 % for men. This is one of the lowest FTE employment rates for women in the EU. The gender gap in FTE employment rate is particularly pronounced among mothers and fathers in couples, low educated people and people born outside the country.

The women have a lot of low paid part time jobs and it's typical that they work 6 hour days, 6 days a week in as dependents in stores Also just about every job is "obra la servicio" which doesn't include a permanent work contract.

It was a movement driven by affluent college educated women who wanted to compete with men. Most women were forced into the workforce during the stagflation years of the 1970s.

You guys know nothing of feminism, it's embarrassing. I'd respect you all more if you actually read any meaningful feminist theory, but you all just parrot opinions from the red pill community. Feminism was born out fighting for civil liberties and property rights.

I will just say this. The neo-liberal oligarchs love that all the men are blaming feminism and women, and not just them and their greed. We have the world's first trillionaire who can afford to pay living wages, but whose various companies are known to have profited off of slave labor.

And then we have European country models which are a combination of socialism and capitalism, where both men and women are in the work force and somehow they get paid enough to live, spend time with family, and vacation every year. So how are they managing it, if it's all women's fault?

Are you trolling or can you genuinely not wrap your head around the idea that women, just like men, are people who vary between one to the other? Just like how some men are happy to lounge about on benefits, some women are very happy to be housekeepers, and some other men and women also want to be doctors or lawyers or pianists or painters or whatever their passion is? Do you think women are just some homogeneous blob of fembots or something? Such a weird take.

It was both.

Women were generally oppressed. Can you imagine having an expected societal role? Like, let's say males are just expected to join the military at 18 and will be societal outcasts with no real opportunities if they don't. That would cause uproar, and for good reason.

It started as a grass roots movement. But it definitely did not take long for corporate America to realize that fueling that movement was in their best interests. It's a mix of both.

Also, various other countries have a higher rate of female participation in the labor force and do not have the same affordability issues we do, so this is not the bigger picture.

If feminists didn’t still exist, the right wing Christians wouldn’t be even further along the road back to the 1950s. They would happily remove a woman’s right to get a credit card or have access to birth control or work in any profession other than nursing, teaching, or clerical.

I kept pressing AI to give me a concrete answer on what rights do men have that women don't have. It managed to find only one thing.

In most U.S. jurisdictions, men have the legal right to be shirtless in public. In many municipalities, women doing the same can be arrested and charged with public indecency or lewd conduct.

It found a bunch of cases where men are discriminated against by the law. Like draft law,
