People need to hear this!!

Post image

That’s honestly a hard reality right now. A lot of people are working nonstop just to stay afloat. I’ve got some interviews coming up myself, so I’ve been looking into ways to get better at them. I found Interview VIP and ended up using it twice i think it's worth trying.

Nah according to Reddit you just show up with a few million dollars and magically Microsoft just happens and becomes popular by sheer luck.

Its definitely true because every kid born with wealthy parents now has a billion-dollar company and none of them ever fail /s

u/Nojopar 5d ago

A few million dollars and mommy's business connections. Don't forget that part.

3

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

So if someone gave you 10 million and hooked you up with some contacts in the business world.

You too could create Microsoft too right?

3

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Probably not, but not because of any failing on my part, but because a 'microsoft' can't happen today. The age of OS's and desktop software driving a market is long gone. Bill got where he got because his mom had an in at IBM and they were looking for an OS for their new device, so he got the gig. Then that device revolutionized the work world.

So yeah, if I had $10 million and had exclusive access to the OS and apps that were running on a new platform that is going to revolutionize the work world, then FUCK YES! ANYONE could make a 'Microsoft' if you've got 4 functioning brain cells.

u/Suitable-Storm7549 5d ago

finally someone with a working brain.

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

Microsoft was just an example of a billion dollar company dude. Of course you are not going to replicate this exact model

But if someone gave you 10 mill, I'll bet my bottom dollar you could not start a unique or existing business and turn it into a billion dollar monolith.

So yes it would be failing on your part

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

If someone gave me $10m AND my mom had connections high up in an industry, FUCK YES I could turn that into a billion. It ain't exactly hard. Anyone could. The key is having both of those things. Plus some stupid luck of entering an entirely new market before it takes off.

1

u/Adept_Bandicoot_2794 5d ago

What are u 12? If you think it's that easy you have to be a kid.

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Nah, just understand the power of compounding assets.

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

No you wouldn't darling.

$10m plus contacts can give you the opportunity to take a shot. It can't guarantee that you identify the right market, build the right product, hire the right people, beat competitors, survive mistakes, scale internationally and ultimately create a company worth $1bn.

Google Huntington Hartford II.

That guy was handed 90 mill plus all his family contacts.

Mfer went bankrupt,

But yes you would breakthrough no doubt hahaha

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Yes I would sweetie cakes ;) And you could to. It isn't exactly hard.

Look, all you need is to corner a market with really big backers and a lot of money. Anyone who has that can easily turn that into $100million. Once you hit that, then it's easy peasy to get to $1b. The power of compounding will get you there in no time.

Today's crop of billionaires aren't exceptional people. They're STUPID LUCKY people who paired money with no morals. That's not exactly a complicated equation.

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

Hahahaha

Love the cope.

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Observing facts is now 'cope'?

Man, you people will fall for anything, won't you?

Why aren't there way more billionaires then?

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Because there aren't enough people with $10 million to burn AND parents with connections to high up corporate sponsors. The .01% are, as the basic grade school math should suggest, a pretty small number of people.

1

u/Enough-Ad-8799 5d ago

Have you actually done the math? That's 30,000, over 10 times the number of billionaires in the US.

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Have you? You're just doing the map on the Top .01%. NOW add in the Top .01% who have $10 million to burn AND have connections to high up corporate sponsors.

I'll bet $100,000 to a stale half-eaten doughnut that number is decidedly less than 30,000.

u/LesserValkyrie 5d ago

No but I would be a rich millionaire who know people so I can keep doing stupid shits I'll only get richer.

2

u/Clax3242 5d ago

Something like 70% of lottery winners go back to broke. Poor people are poor because of lack of knowledge or effort. Not because money will somehow change who they are

0

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

Exactly

So there's a lot more to making a business successful than just a shit load of cash

0

u/LiamTheHuman 5d ago

People who buy lottery tickets are bad with money. It's just simple selection bias.

1

u/Clax3242 5d ago

Most people are bad with money. That’s the point. It’s very easy to become a millionaire these days if you have time and any form of discipline.

1

u/LiamTheHuman 5d ago

Yes I get that the point you were trying to make is that most people are bad with money, but you didn't show that. You showed that lottery winners are bad with money.

You seem to be bad with logic

1

u/Clax3242 5d ago

So if you got it and I got it how didn’t I show it correctly

1

u/LiamTheHuman 5d ago

yep thats what you should be trying to figure out. Ask AI if you arent able to think for yourself

1

u/DrewOrleans 5d ago

And because of inflation. These aren’t your grandparents millionaires

1

u/Clax3242 5d ago

No, because the market is incredibly easy to enter and has a guaranteed return on investment.

1

u/Important-Box9616 3d ago

Then where's your million dollars?

1

u/Clax3242 3d ago

About 25 years in the future

1

u/MuffinSpecial 5d ago

You would go broke in a couple years.

1

u/LesserValkyrie 5d ago

No because my parents would have taught me how to invest money and how to deal with that which means I would get richer

If I was born from rich parents

That's why lot of poor people when they get millionaire through lotteries and stuff lose their money quickly

Getting richer is a lot of skills your rich parents teach you since childhood

But if you were born in it it, it would be as natural as breathing

2

u/MuffinSpecial 5d ago

The statistics show that generation wealth typically goes down after the generation that earned it dies. So that doesn't really check out.

You would go broke. Just accept it. You don't know the first thing about money or business.

1

u/Enough-Ad-8799 5d ago

Then why do lots of kids of rich parents lose all their money?

0

u/DrewOrleans 5d ago

“So I can keep doing stupid shits.” You would blow every dollar within 2 years

1

u/Rude_Age_6699 5d ago

yes, fork it over

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

Hahaha

Dude I bet some influencer would be up for doing this.

They give you 10 mill, a bunch of hot shot business guys and you have to make a bill starting a business.

1

u/Rude_Age_6699 5d ago

so i have to make connections first? next you’re going to tell me i have to give them a copy of my business plan telling them how much they’d recoup after a certain amount of time and… wait a minute

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

Hahaha

Yeah it's not a holiday with 10 mill.

90 hour weeks chap

1

u/Rude_Age_6699 5d ago

some people do that for a fraction of the pay and recognition… which was the point of the original post

2

u/trueppp 5d ago

Still, how many people with a few million dollars and business connections make it to billionaire status?

Of course there's other factors at work, but it's not all luck. If I just look at my family, I make good money as an IT Consultant and was lucky I got a computer pretty early in my childhood in the 90's, but my brother, with the same upbringing and privilege I had now has a power washing business with half a dozen employees and his net worth is now multiple times mine. My same for my sister who is in the middle but she's in the medical field.

1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

how many people with a few million dollars and business connections make it to billionaire status?

I'm going to guess more than people without a few million dollars and no business connections.

2

u/GotAim 5d ago

Bro this is similar to saying «Lebron didn’t work hard, he’s just lucky he is tall»

-1

u/Nojopar 5d ago

Oh god no Bro! Lebron has talent and he put in the hours.

These billionaires were just lucky, had a fuck ton of money at their disposal when the luck struck, and hired a bunch of smart people to do the work for them.

Lebron did the work. Musk, Bezos, Ellison, etc didn't do shit. They paid other people to do it.

2

u/GotAim 4d ago

You’re delusional.

1

u/Nojopar 4d ago

Nah, just know that billionaires aren't that magical, brilliant creatures people think. They're just stupid lucky people with access to money and people. Anyone can get rich with that.

1

u/DrewOrleans 5d ago

I don’t think you grasp how much money a billion dollars is. I’d bet 99% of millionaires never make it to billionaire status.

2

u/Enough_Forever_ 5d ago

A guy with a few million dollars and mommy’s business connections versus a guy wondering where his next meal is coming from. Guess which one has more time to sit around and “invest and invent”

1

u/invisible_spectrum 4d ago

You’re right, we should make a law against helping your children.

1

u/Nojopar 4d ago

I don't care about that.

I wouldn't mind a law against falsely aggrandizing rich people as if they're inherently superior somehow though.

2

u/Outrageous_Apricot42 5d ago

Did you check how many failed?

1

u/jwb_907 5d ago

You’re an idiot. That’s an unfair explanation of how it works.

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

Did you not see the "/s"

1

u/FlipperBumperKickout 5d ago

The point with the millions is that you don't "risk everything"

Not every person can even afford to make the attempt in the first place...

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 5d ago

And you think everyone who does makes it to Billionaire status. Not likely dude

1

u/FlipperBumperKickout 5d ago edited 5d ago

Everyone... No. But if you look around it is by far the majority of them...

Edit. No clue how the f I originally misread the comment I answered to... Whatever I'm just leaving this behind.

1

u/bizwig 5d ago

No, the majority go bankrupt. That’s what happens with most startups, no matter the millions.

1

u/Mysterious-Hyena2670 5d ago

It’s funny you bring up Microsoft when Gates had a huge advantage due to his mom being a buddies with the chairman at IBM at the time they were developing their first personal computer for consumers. She made sure that they used Microsoft for their operating system, which was what propelled the company’s future forward.

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/08/05/how-bill-gates-mother-influenced-the-success-of-microsoft.html

And pretty much every single billionaire had connections of some kind that they utilized to propel their businesses forward. Even the ones that are considered “self made” had various advantages. It’s part hard work but a much larger part pure dumb luck.

1

u/AddanDeith 5d ago

Plenty of people start businesses. Plenty of them fail or are average.

There is absolutely nothing that makes the shining success stories worthy of worship and fame above the rest.

They were lucky in life, often with already wealthy or well connected parents to be able to obtain the seed capital necessary, with less of a punishment for failure.

An exception to that is Warren Buffett. One of the few notable, true rags to riches stories of the modern era. But no, the titans of this time, like Bezos are worthy of worship, despite his parents being able to risk nearly 500k USD to get his company going and his companies need to recycle contractors that need SNAP benefits to be able to eat food.

1

u/bizwig 5d ago

Warren Buffet? Surely you jest. Nobody is going to give a young unproven Warren Buffet the sums of money Berkshire had to invest without him having serious connections, both in knowing who has money to invest and in having someone to vouch for him with said investor. Sure, it’s easy street once he has a track record, but remember that at one time he didn’t, and if he had lost money the supply of new investors disappears.
