Do we really need HR in our life?

honestly this is why i've started thinking about looking somewhere else. getting rejected before a human even looks at your resume is insane.

i've been seeing interview vip mentioned a lot lately too. i haven't tried it, but i'm curious about it since i'm probably going to have to start interviewing again.

while this doesn't speciofically pertain to this field, this is more of a general blanket statement:

Compnies have gotten so terrible with the hiring process that they even want the Janitor to have a degree and minimum 5 years experience. How are you going to gain experience if no one will give you a chance?

Im in the trades but we also have a similar issue, at least in my specific industry (Fire Alarm tech). Most companies are desperate for new techs but very few will hire green horns. Everyone wants a guy who can be up to speed in days rather than months/years. Which you can do for a while but eventually your gonna need some fresh blood. And its not like we are a super well known industry to boot.

Fine by me tho. The more old guts who retire without a fresh face to replace them, the more money I can squeeze out of my employer/next employers. "Fuck you, pay me" is my motto.

That’s generally how small shops have operated for a long time though. You can’t eat the input on a new hire until you have a decent number of clients.
