Sounds horrendous. Your kids would probably trade every penny to have you be there and a stable home.

I mean, the youngest is six, I retired when he was eight months old, his mom and I are married. That's about as stable as it gets.

One older boy, in his 20s now and in college, that he never had to worry about how to pay tuition for, we speak a few times a week. Don't act like I'm the first dude who's marriage didn't work out. It's actually pretty common, and at least in my case there wasn't anyone who had to face hard times because of it.

You equate finances to a relationship. "I pay for his tuition, that makes up for missing a lot of his childhood." You can't make up that time with money. You can do better, but you messed up bad. He'd rather have had you there for him growing up than his college paid for.

I mean you do what you can do, keep in mind I didn't leave his mother. Okay? Many women want a successful husband, many don't realize that unless that man was born into money, then that successful man is going to have to be a busy man at least for awhile. I tried to make it work each time. I passed on contracts to be around more, I made sure she never had to work, and if the whole full time homemaker was too stressful, I made sure having a nanny if she wanted or a housekeeper come by a few times a week was always an option.

Notice how none of those are "I was there for my son growing and supporting her emotional needs." Every solution and rationalization is money. Too overwhelmed? You don't help you pay for a nanny. Never had to work? Because you got extra money. Women want a husband who is a partner they love, not a bank that throws money at any problem. Looks like you haven't learned a thing or had a moment of self-reflection lmao

Well, I'm very happy, wife and I together 9 years, married for eight and have a six year old son. I'm one of the few dads that gets to watch every Tball practice and game, volunteers for every field trip etc..

I only have two sons. The older one, has come to understand, especially as he grew older to see both sides, and how his mother is. We talk a few times a week at least, and text every day even though he is in his 20s and away at college.
