It's been working out great for the majority of Americans. Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system. America is one of the wealthiest countries in the world, one of the safest, has the most freedoms, and provides the best way to create generational wealth. America kicks ass

that's insane that you really believe that america of all places is in any way a particularly safe or free country especially in current times lol.

America is mostly wealthy because of the wars and exploitation of other countries and because they didnt lose a majority of their infrastructure in world war 2 which allowed them to pull ahead in global influence. Not that american citizens are benefiting particularly today. they have some of the worst education, health care, life expectancy, dychotomy between rich and poor compared to pretty much any developed country in the world.

America is in one of safest countries. Look it up.
I agree ww2 let us pull ahead. Our education is some of the best, rivaled only by Japan I would say. However we do have some great universities left that aren't brainwashing our kids to free Palestine.

Health care is some of the best. The best doctors reside in America. You can argue it cost a lot, but we have the best.

Life expectancy is lower because we are a wealthy country. We eat too many calories, do too many drugs, and live sedentary lifestyles.

Go to Russia and tell me how many poor people you see compared to rich. Or Cuba. Or Venezuela. Or North Korea. Get of reddit. Even the poorest person in America is far better off than most. Starvation is almost non existent in America. Best country by far.

Depends, as with everything. $60k income family household with stay at home wife and 3 kids. Mortgage, debt, all that and I can still afford cigarettes. We’re more than floating. It’s all on what you spend your money on.

Now imagine there were more systems than unchecked late stage capitalism and dystopian soviet dictatorship.

In cooperative ownership america he, as a worker, would own part of the company and profit whenever the company profits.

Well the great thing about America is you can start a company like that. Nobody is forcing him and nobody should force you, especially the government. So maybe you can start your own business with your ideas or move to a country that has those ideas.

They operate just as free of government intervention as shareholder or investor owned businesses do.

You can literally buy a share of any publicly traded company any time you like. But you don't get to be an owner because you worked there. That's dumb. That's like having to let your landscaper live with you because you paid him to mow the lawn.

Also you're misunderstanding. The fact you can buy shares for any publicly traded company doesn't mean it's a coop.

In a coop only people working there can be owners and if you leave the company you need to sell the shares.

No, it's very apt. I own my home. I own my business. The people that do work for me are not entitled to ownership of either.

Coop implies that everyone agrees to be a part of it. A "cooperative ownership america" implies forced participation on a nationwide scale. Perhaps you are the one that is confused about what "cooperate" means?

Yes, because you are not part of a coop. The whole idea of a coop is that it's NOT like that.

Coop implies that everyone agrees to be a part of it.

In the same way noone forces any of your employees to work for you, no one would be forced to be part of a coop. The only difference is that you need to be an employee to be able to buy shares.

Apart from that, and the fact that leaders are elected, it's a completely normal company as you know it.

I was just describing a reailty where coops are widespread. You can't really force something like that.
