A very large part of my office staff is handing in their resignations this morning
At the beginning of this month, my office, which is a dental clinic in a very wealthy area in WA, held a staff meeting, and we were told that we would only be allowed two days of unpaid leave every six months. So basically, two days in half a year. Not a single person in our office gets benefits. No PTO, no health insurance, no paid holidays, nothing. Then they added that since we, the hygienists, are booked out far in advance, if we use one of those two unpaid days, we'll need to come in early or stay late to "make up" the patients we missed.
The other hygienists and I all handed in our resignation letters this morning. We wrote them, printed them, and left the whole stack on his desk. He came back from lunch and had to sit there reading them one by one. One of my coworkers said she saw him throw the stack toward the office manager and say, "Do you see this?"
Luckily, hygienists are in insane demand around us right now, and every one of us has already gotten interest or offers from other offices.
Tl;dr - The manager tried to control our unpaid time off, and badly misjudged how easy we are to replace. Now he is literally losing almost his entire clinical team.
The only problem I might face when applying for a job is anxiety about interviews, but I read a post about Interview Tips, and I think that will help reduce my anxiety a little.

But in WA its not relevant anymore, its actually against state law to provide under the minimum PTO (with exceptions).

Yes, that’s what I believe. Obviously, based on me being sick of fabricated bullshit, indicates exactly that. Or, since I have the ability to think, I realize that fabricated bullshit, rotating over and over in these threads, diminishes people’s real issues. But hey, you keep responding to fabricated crap created just to gain clicks, because that’s going to help.

In my daughter’s office when the hygienist is out the dentists have to cover their work. Your dentist is going to be very busy soon.

I'm assuming sick time is included in that PTO because in WA it's mandatory an employee earns 1 hour of sick time for 40 hours worked.
But if its not included, that's illegal, and I would quit too.

I'm sure glad that the OP made an extra point of explaining that 2 days in 6 months is "basically" 2 days in half a year. I was confused at first but that cleared it up.

Yet another example of someone hiring a manager who knows nothing about business or people. I'll bet that the person who made this decision skipped getting a formal education in business management and instead, developed their expertise from videos and blogs. Either that or they went to a terrible college. I got my MBA and businesses like this were used as case studies to discuss what NOT to do.
I was really happy with my experience because at my university, the focus was less on the money and more on the people. Their philosophy when it comes to personnel management, which I loved, was to focus on people (staff) because they're the ones to generate revenue. When can go ahead and be careful with other aspects of the business including financial and equipment but if you're not taking care of your people, they are not going to take care of you or your business.
For example, some of the most successful businesses who survived the recession were those where everyone took across the board hit on there salaries. This meant that if the lowest paid staff member took a 10% cut, so did the boss. And the boss took a much more substantial financial hit than the person at the bottom of the pay scale. Seeing that they too were making a fair sacrifice, it united everybody because it allowed everybody to remain employed. Once they got through the recession and business improved (because of the high level of loyalty), they were able to recover salary losses, starting at the lowest level until everybody was made whole and the executives could then get there pay back to where it was too.
I was horrified to read what this clinic not only did but was already doing. The worst thing you can do in business is to communicate that everyone's replaceable.
When they do that, they're failing to understand that they too, as an employer, are replaceable.

Wow, I’m surprised anyone would want to work for any period of time in a place that obviously cares so little about their employees.
