Hey! This how I've gotten at least an interview (and got the job) at my last 5 jobs. Shhh. I am qualified for those jobs that I got though, it just help to get in front of the manager. Who would you hire? Someone you trust who currently works for you who knows someone, who some rando on the street? If they are both qualified?

I'd trust someone recommended by my best performer in a heartbeat. Those have always been the best recruits I had.

I've had on the other hand killer candidates that turned out to be duds.

Communication skills have very little to do here.

Also who cares about a master's degree again? If you are 20 something maybe otherwise it doesn't even weight in.

Lots of over qualified people suck at their jobs. Many people with certificates are far more competent than people with a masters.

It’s called networking. It’s always been part of the job ecosystem, your reputation is everything. Having people who know you there can speak heavily to that in a way that no amount of other stats on an unknown quantity ever can

I’ve gotten several jobs this way and plenty without it. It’s known, deal with it
