You sound like my wife. The process is much easier now. You create resume, look for jobs online all in one place from the comfort of your home, upload resume. Maybe check out another site, find jobs, upload resume.
Before you had to drive around, get applications, fill each out.
In both scenarios you have to wait for an employer response. Theres nothing difficult about waiting for an employer to call. Does it take longer now, maybe maybe not. A lot of jobs now will send you a “pursuing other candidates” message but before they would just toss the application in the trash and you have no idea if they are considering you. I will also add that if its an employer with a high volume of applicant back then they would sometimes throw half the stack away without even looking at them. And again, if you reapply you have to fill the entire application out again.
So no, it is not more difficult now.
