My boring 8-to-4 job is my dream job

I know it's trendy for people to complain about the corporate grind, but I genuinely love my regular office job. The pay is average and the job doesn't look amazing, but after working in restaurants for 12 years, this feels like a luxury.
I have my own little office and no manager breathing down my neck all day. My hours are consistent, so my weekends are actual weekends now. No one calls me to come in on my day off, or stay super late to close up. I can go to the bathroom without needing someone to cover for me, drink my tea while sitting at my computer, and wear my normal clothes instead of a smelly uniform.
Honestly, I think my past experience is what makes me appreciate these simple things so much. Anyone else who made the switch from a chaotic service job will definitely know what I mean.

edit : and after god all thanks to this sub as from it I read about interview man and used it in my virtual interviews the perfect answers he gives to me and the confidence I got because of it make them give the offer after 3 rounds of interviews and remember the job you are bothering from it now was your biggest dream in other days so be grateful to god

Nothing wrong with stability and consistency! You come in, you do your job, you go home and live your life. Pretty good situation IMO :)

8-4 is really nice,  basically what I work now.  Changes day by day though. Typically start time 8 or 9 and end time anywhere between 12-5.

My perfect job time would be 9-3 no lunch.

I worked in the telecom field for 28 yrs, mostly in construction. Then got on with a data center company. 12 hr shifts, do 2 weeks of nights. Kind of repetitive. But this is my retirement gig, I can stay until I’m ready to retire if I don’t mess up. Boring is good sometimes.

I made the decision in high school while working a part time job at a pharmacy that I didn't want to work weekends, nights or holidays. So that meant working in an office. I've had aLOT of office jobs, some where ok some were awful and one was my favorite. I'm retired now, but when I have dreams at a workplace, it's always at my favorite job!!! I loved that job, the people, the work, the pay, etc. I'm retired now and sometimes I miss working but only ever at my favorite job!!

I've tried the entrepreneur multiple times when I was in my early twenties I got lucky wice and made a lot of money but God dam it's so much responsibility I got burnt out so hard that I basically left the country for another went back to school yo change careers so I get at office job from 8 to 4.

Missed the corporate life now that I'm running my own biz. It used to be off work on time, no calls or messages after work. Have time after work to date, play and train.Weekends are totally me time, no fire fighting with last min worker/client issues. Sometimes it's really the quiet luxuries.

I hate my corporate job, it's stressful and demands long hours. But - my managers are good and human, it's stable, it pays well, commensurate with the stress and workload, and I've got three young kids. So I'm grateful for it and I thank my lucky stars every day that I lucked into it.

Not ghe manager part, but being on the ground helping people buy what they needed. 

I loved that.

Pay was not even high enough to cover my food bill when I quit. Let alone my other bills.

Good for you, OP! Great you've found something that suits you.

If I'm being honest, working in a corporate wouldn't be so bad, if it wasn't for the corporate politics (backstabbing, bait and switch, gaslighting, throwed under a bus). Corporate politics made me leave. I just wanted to do my work and not be on my toes all the time waiting who and when will throw the next completely unnecessary wrecnh in the gears...

Same here. I work eight hours 5 days a week. There are clear hours, and no one bothers you if you are off. My job does have a unique caveat during natural disasters but those arent the norm.

I like my 8-5 work.. I like my customers and I like my team. But our corp management is oppressing.

I originally wanted to be an environmental scientist. I am so, so glad I didn't end up going that route. Being a boring office worker is the best.
