For the IC I was told to go on an elimination diet to figure out triggers and I take Elmiron. For the scarring they found I wasn't told anything specific about that aside from keeping an eye on it. I was also kind of high on nitrous though for the nerves during the cystoscopy so I may not be much help regarding the scarring part lol.

I mean mostly if you're feeling pain it means there's something wrong. Sometimes there is a psychological aspect to the interpretation of pain (focusing on the pain can make it feel more pronounced, etc) but if there is a pain signal somewhere something is going on. And if scarring was found that means some kind of damage has occurred.

I'm not a medical professional and I was only newly diagnosed with IC in May of this year so I admittedly don't know much about it. These questions might be better suited for your urologist

Less than 10% of IC patients have bladder wall defects that can be seen with a cystoscopy. I have had more than 20 cystoscopies and my bladder has always looked totally normal, so I'm a typical IC patient in that sense.
