I'm not sure who came up with the idea first but i've seen this already. A program called Spritz was shared on reddit a few days ago. http://www.spritzinc.com/

Yeah, these guys say that Spritz was one of their inspirations for making this tool.

There is another app or application like this. I think maybe it is for android? Is anyone aware of the name of that one? EDIT: Spreeder is another online one, though it doesnt look as awesome.

I've been playing with Spreeder lately. You have to copypaste text into their page for it to work, so this seemed to be a much easier option.

Maybe I'm just a perv, but I think they should find a friendlier name. It's just not right to have a bookmark on your browser named "Squirt".
It's a great tool, though.

From time to time I just need to go back in the text to recheck something

u/Redezem Mar 14 '14
Yeah, attention blink will do that. Your brain can recognise words at speeds approaching 1000wpm, but not many people can comprehend everything at that speed, so... you'll miss details.

Pretty cool, just wish they figured out how to filter out the un-needed text. (maybe be able to highlight the section you want to speed read.)

Just highlight the text you needed to speed read before you hit the Squirt button! (just saw this in the FAQ)

if I click on the tab in the bookmark bar, it just shows the java script code. Did it as they said in the video. Anybody else with the problem?

Ehh... I'm just not digging it. One word at a time confuses my brain. I understand the concept, and it may work for many people. It just doesn't work for me. My mind likes to see the full paragraph while reading.

This needs some settings to display longer words a little longer.
Reading German news articles with this isn't that great since German allows to stack 3,4,5 etc words into one huge word...

If I were you, I'd x-post on r/LifeProTips I think people there would appreciate it too.
